GODZILLA TIMELINE

15,000 B.C.-12,500 B.C.

During this epoch, an extremely advanced human civilization flourished on a small continent in the Pacific Ocean known as Mu, usually called Lemuria in the Western world today. It's believed that a similar advanced civilization thrived during the same era on another small continent known as Atlantis, located in the Atlantic Ocean hence, the original etymological origin of that body of water's name. Numerous extremely impressive advances were made by these civilizations, including the following: sub-space communications technology; very advanced genetic engineering techniques, which included the re-creation of various dinosaur species, albeit far larger and stronger, not to mention more intelligent than the dinosaurs that evolved naturally during the Mesozoic Era, as well as extremely large genetic offshoots of other animal species, including various primates and cephalopods; advanced weaponry, including laser-firing munitions; and the development of vastly powerful energy resources, including those that enable control over the weather and other aspects of the environment, and which utilized the bio-spherical life force of the planet itself as an energy source.

After a long period of time, these great civilizations began to collapse due to the wanton and environmentally destructive use of their advanced methods of energy production, and this ultimately resulted in a Great Cataclysm that destroyed both Atlantis and Mu, and what remained of their respective land masses sunk deep beneath the sea. The Great Cataclysm was so tremendous that little tangible evidence of the Atlanteans' and Muans' advanced technology and civilization remained amongst the greater world around them, and until the late 20th century of the Common Era, the only real evidence of their existence was based entirely upon cryptic writings recorded by various scribes during the historical period.

By the year 10,000 B.C., the entire global population of the Earth was left bereft of the Atlantean and Muan culture and technological advances, and returned to an age of barbarism that required the human race to slowly crawl their way back up to the level of industrialization extant in the present era though the global human population, now divided into numerous competing nation-states, has yet to match many of the advances made by those two ancient 'super-civilizations,' particularly in the realm of intrasolar space colonization, sub-space communications, and genetic engineering.

Since the means to achieve intrasolar space travel had been achieved by Muan science, many factions of Lemurians who disagreed with the politics of the small island continent proper, but maintaining many of their technological advances, fled to form colonies on various planetary bodies within their native Sol system. The choice to flee in this manner was made by so many factions of Muans since, at that time, Mu/Lemuria controlled most of the Earth, their only real rival being the almost equally advanced nation-state of Atlantis; the Muan/Lemurian dissidents disliked what Atlantis represented as much as their native nation-state of Mu, thus prompting their decision to flee the Earth altogether.

Colonies were known to be formed on the surface of Mars likely with protective geodesic domes, upon some of the larger planetoids in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, some of the larger moons of the Jovian planets by utilizing similar radiation and pressure-resistant geodesic domes, possibly beneath or on the surface of Venus, and also possibly on some of the distant trans-Plutonian planetary bodies in the Kuiper Belt, such as the small red planet of Sedna. Other factions of Muans may have fled the Earth to form space colonies following the Great Cataclysm.

As for the Muans/Lemurians who remained on the small island continent following the Great Cataclysm, small, scattered remnants of the nation's population managed to survive underneath the strata of the now submerged continent, and over the course of the ensuing millennia began to slowly grow in population and re-invent their advanced technology and civilization, until finally emerging to make a major challenge to the surface world populations by the late 20th century in regards to re-establishing the global control their distant ancestors once held.

Another remnant of the former Muan population who remained on Earth formed a smaller and separate underground civilization known as Seatopia. The Seatopians, who were largely isolationists, only moved against the surface world during the late 20th century when the most advanced modern plutocratic nation-states, ignorant of the Seatopians' existence, were wreaking havoc on their civilization with their frequent nuclear weapons testing.

It has been suggested that the various ancient and mysterious statues located on Easter Island may have some connection to these ancient civilizations. Further, there are visible remnants of the Muan/Lemurian civilization in the form of numerous ultra-large dinosaurs and other animals, including an exceedingly rare but ultra-large bipedal ape, and various creatures resembling the sea serpents of legend that are situated on a few unmapped islands scattered throughout the Pacific Ocean, some of which have small primitive human populations living there, and others that are entirely uninhabited by humans.

Approx. 12,000 B.C.

The contingent of Muan/Lemurian scientists who travel to Mars found a large colony there. The ensuing trip to Mars was successful, and enormous geodesic domes were constructed to enable the Muan travelers to terraform tiny but select areas of the red planet within the domes to enable them to establish viable colonies, utilizing their technology and advanced knowledge of hydroponics to develop sufficient food resources to enable them to survive.
This Martian colony developed their psychic faculties quite well, and made great strides in all areas related to ESP, including the ability to "channel" their consciousness across time and space, and even store psychic "messages" within the genetic "memory" of succeeding generations.

The Martian colony prospered for a long but unspecified period of time. However, extreme disaster struck with the unexpected arrival of the vastly powerful interstellar dai kaiju known as King Ghidorah. The destructive, energy consuming kaiju attacked the Martian colonists' geodesic domes mercilessly, and all of their best weaponry proved unable to repel the powerful star creature. A relatively small surviving group of the Martian colonists were forced to use their technology to flee back to Earth, as King Ghidorah ruthlessly destroyed what was left of their civilization. However, while en route to their home planet, one of the most talented espers among them insured that a powerful psychic message was stored with the racial memory of her bloodline, so as to awaken aspects of her inherent consciousness within the psyche of the most prominent member of all future generations of that aforementioned bloodline for the purpose of warning the citizenry of their home planet should evidence of King Ghidorah's imminent presence ever appear on Earth.

Upon returning to their home world, the beleaguered colonists hastily settled upon a small uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean. Though the former worldwide Muan/Lemurian and Atlantean civilizations were now gone, the returning colony was too small, and possessed too little of their technology, to take over the world anew, and they thus built themselves a modest civilization upon their new island home on Earth. As thousands of years passed, and as the former Martian colonists slowly built a new society, their previous mastery of all ESP phenomena was gradually lost to their gene pool, and within a few hundred years, they in no way stood out from the emerging human civilizations elsewhere upon the Earth.

By the early 20th century, they had formed the small First World island nation of Saligna, though they had, of course, lost all of the knowledge and memory of their impressive ancestry, along with almost all remnants of their once formidable psychic abilities.

Other surviving intrasolar colonies became, by the late 20th century, the Xians, perhaps the most powerful such colony; the Mysterians, whose male members had evidently become displaced from their home planetoid of Mysteriod following a conflict with the female populace; the Nebulans, whose human colonists were replaced by intelligent, mutant cockroach-like insects when the human colony apparently destroyed themselves by rampant abuse of their civilization's industrial processes; the Simeons, whose genetically engineered simian slave race staged a brutal coup and took over the human civilization; the Garogain, another particularly powerful colony who developed great technological capacity to mass produce dai kaiju, both organic and mechanized, and to use a combination of genetic engineering and mass acruement technology to actually transform some of their cyborg human populace into their kaiju 'Terro-Beasts'; the Peacelanders, whose utopian civilization was destroyed by the Garogain in the wars that eventually broke out between the various colonies; the green-skinned Venerians of the Venusian colony; the Kilaaks, a sentient race of silicon-like entities created by Muan technology who eventually formed their own colony; and the war-like Natals.

Each of the above-mentioned Lemurian intrasolar colonies had dealings with Earth during the late 20th century, when they were discovered after making themselves known, mostly through attempts at conquest.

Ancient Japan, 8,000 B.C

The pre-medieval hero Yamato Takeru obtains his warrior skills along with the mystical amulet he acquired from the gods themselves that will give him a plethora of special abilities, including that of shape-shifting and a variety of powerful weapons, which he will use to defend his fledging homeland from various supernatural menaces, the deadliest of whom is the eight-headed fire-breathing dragon Orochi. All of Takeru's many adventures are recorded for posterity as the classic Japanese myth of "The Golden Bough," one of the most important myths in the history of the island nation.

During this time period, the pantheon of guardian ancestral spirits and deities of the island of Okinawa created the supernatural dai kaiju called King Seesar out of the consciousness of numerous ancestral guardian spirits merging with the life force of the Earth itself. King Seesar would guard this island from all threats, and he would rest in silent slumber underneath a specific mountainside near the traditional Azumi clan palace. The Azumi clan's priestesses had a strong psychic/mystical rapport with the island's ancestral spirits, and as such the female priestess lineage of this Okinawan clan carried the sole means of rousing King Seesar from his slumber when the monster's might was needed to defend their island.

Time moves violently forward until..

1944

During the final days of Nazi Germany's reign, the heart of the legendary Frankenstein Monster recovered by Nazi forces from somewhere in the Balkan region of Europe, is delivered by a Nazi scientist named Dr. Reisendorf via a German U-boat to a Japanese submarine commanded by Lt. Kawai in the Indian Ocean. This exchange with their Axis ally was obviously done to insure that this invaluable organic item stayed out of the hands of the Allies. Dr. Reisendorf's U-boat was destroyed by a U.S. seaplane mere minutes after delivering the monster's heart to Lt. Kawai, and the latter's sub only made a narrow escape.

From there, the monster's still beating and seemingly immortal heart was transported to a secret government research facility in Hiroshima, where its unique and extraordinary biological properties were to be studied by Japanese scientists and medical researchers, possibly for the purpose of creating an army of super-soldiers to serve the Axis forces in the future, as the Frankenstein Monster, along with most of his attendant "copycat" creatures, possessed superhuman strength, durability, agility [sometimes], and incredible cellular regenerative properties, among other astounding physical attributes. This situation was conducted with obvious haste, as Germany was actually defeated later that month with the Russian insurgence into Berlin and Hitler's apparent suicide.

In accordance with the Nazis' plans, however, the Frankenstein Monster's heart was safely transported to a secret Japanese government research facility in Hiroshima.

1945

Early in this year, the Japanese scientific studies of the Frankenstein Monster's heart were abruptly ended when the large atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima by the U.S., an action that effectively destroyed the city, including the secret government scientific facility that held the monster's still-beating heart. The heart was encapsulated within a large box-shaped device with various support equipment and a special type of fluid developed by Nazi scientists that kept the organ nourished and functioning, as well as protected from outside elements. Apparently, all of the staff working within the facility were killed, and the box containing the heart was buried under many tons of rubble.

Every other government official who was aware of the monster's heart being kept in the facility were either killed by the bomb or assumed that the organ was likewise destroyed, and kept their mouths shut. In actuality, however, the heart was protected from being crushed by the extremely sturdy metal of the box-like device it was contained within though the heart was also irradiated, and these factors combined to keep the organ fully functional for another two decades.

During the final days of World War II, the valiant member of the Japanese Imperial Naval Command, Captain Shinguji, commanding the powerful Japanese submarine of his own design, the A-403, was returning to Japan after a battle with Allied forces in the Pacific Ocean. The submarine contained blueprints designed by Captain Shinguji for a new, considerably more powerful naval war machine called Atragon, whose construction he believed would enable Japan to ultimately win the war, and to protect it from all future threats.

During this return voyage, however, the A-403 was attacked and captured by the superior firepower of the new Muan Empire, whose undersea nation-state was a powerful but fractious remnant of the once glorious Pacific Island continent (usually called "Lemuria" in the West), whose advanced science and civilization enabled them to rule most of the world over 10,000 years ago, prior to the lost period of time known as the Hyborean Age. Though he and his crew were unable to stop the Muans from capturing the A-403, Capt. Shinguji and his intrepid troupe were nevertheless able to escape to a nearby island.

Setting up a base there over a short period of time, and with the assistance of many of that island's willing natives, Capt. Shinguji managed to construct an even more formidable version of the Atragon than he had previously designed in the aforementioned blueprints, as he was determined to obtain the means of defending his native Japan from not only the Allied nations, but also any future threats the Muan Empire may present though Japan was soon to be defeated by the Allies.

His personal honor and intense determination to complete this action before returning to Japan caused Capt. Shinguji to leave his former life, family, and honored vocation behind him, and it would be 18 years before he would return to Japan, see his daughter again, and engage the Muan Empire anew.

1946-1953

Numerous atomic bomb tests were conducted by the U.S. in various locations around the Pacific Ocean. The result was several of the surviving dinosaurs who were descended from those created though the process of artificial genetic engineering by Muan/Lemurian scientists many millenia earlier, as well as several pseudo-insects and pseudo-arachnids actually, reptilian creatures who were genetically engineered to have the outer characteristics of various insects, arachnids, and crustaceans, each descended from forebears who were also created by Muan scientific experiments in millennia past, and all of whom were situated on various Pacific atolls, the latter of which were gradually mutated into freakishly large and tremendously powerful creatures.

It can be surmised that the specific genetic radiation-absorbing enhancements made to these synthetically produced dinosaurs and pseudo- insect and arachnid species enabled many of them to evolve further and to enjoy highly beneficial mutations as a result of exposure to large amounts of atomic radiation, rather than to simply die of radiation poisoning, extreme cellular damage, or cancer, as all natural organisms would, as they would lack the genetic alterations made by Muan science to enable these organisms to absorb and metabolize radiation since many ancient Atlantean weapons that would be used against them were radiation-based.

Also on these islands were various gigantic species or singular creatures not seen in the fossil record, including an enormous ape and creatures that closely resemble sea serpents. A possible explanation as to the existence of these prehistoric survivors, as well as the reason for a few isolated regions of the globe that continued to have small but thriving extra-large dinosaur populations particularly Farou Island and Mondo Island, and more than one hidden civilization of surviving Muans do indeed exist there, and they are known to have dai kaiju under their control.

1954

One of the most powerful of the mutated dinosaurs resulting from the aforementioned atomic bomb tests, who is named Godzilla after a legendary sea monster by the natives of Odo Island, begins attacking various Japanese ships around the area by hitting them with bursts of atomic radiation from underwater. The 50 meter tall kaiju soon makes a few appearances on Odo Island, where his existence is confirmed by Japanese scientists who were on the atoll. The atomic-powered dai kaiju finally launches an attack on Tokyo itself, easily fending off the attacks of the Japanese Self Defense Force [JSDF], and reducing the entire city to rubble.

After fleeing back to the sea, Godzilla is evidently destroyed when an embittered but brilliant scientist, Dr. Daisuke Serizawa, utilizes an invention of his that terrified him upon its completion, the Oxygen Destroyer, against the kaiju. The scientist commits suicide to prevent any government in the world from ever possessing the secret of such a terrible weapon, and using it against human life. The entire incident was also recorded firsthand by the visiting American journalist Steve Martin, who was present in Tokyo during Godzilla's attack, and was injured during the onslaught.

Godzilla's body is searched for, but isn't found. It is presumed completely destroyed and the threat of the monster is past.

1955

A young pilot named Kobayashi is forced to make an emergency landing on another atoll in the Ogasawara chain, Iwato Island, where he witnesses a battle between a once thought destroyed Godzilla and another mega-gigantic dinosaur mutation later named 'Anguirus' this name was transliterated in numerous different ways in the American press through the years, including 'Anzilla,' 'Angorus,' 'Angilas.

Kobayashi's story was believed by a renowned paleontologist called Dr. Yamane, who studied the initial attack of Godzilla upon Tokyo a year earlier, and he speculates on the atomic origin of the creatures. Soon, the two kaiju turn up in Osaka, and continue their monumental battle there, destroying much of the city in the process. Godzilla emerges the victor after literally tearing out his adversary's throat, and then setting the body aflame with his atomic breath. Immediately afterward, the triumphant beast departed the island nation to the open sea.

Soon after this, the burning corpse of Anguirus, which wasn't truly dead but simply forced into a state of suspended animation by the extremely severe injuries he endured, began slowly absorbing the radiation-induced flames spread across his body, and also began emitting dangerous levels of radiation, which the government feared would become exponentially worse as what was left of the creature's body began to decompose once the fire spent itself. In order to rid Osaka of the dangerous corpse, a massive J.S.D.F. task force was promptly created to deal with the serious environmental hazard.

First the radioactive flame enveloping the body was doused with enormous amounts of foam dropped from the air. Then the dangerous corpse was hastily airlifted far out to sea, and dropped into the waters below. Upon sinking to the bottom of the Pacific, Anguirus's mutilated body went into an even deeper state of suspended animation, where he slowly healed over a period of 13 years.

In the meantime, over the course of the next few months, Osaka was rebuilt, and normal every day affairs once more became the order of the day. However, this time the Japanese government was determined not to just wait until Godzilla chose to surface in Japan again, but resolved to aggressively hunt the kaiju down and destroy him.

Towards that end, a J.S.D.F. aerial strike force, which included Kobayashi, was launched, and they managed to track Godzilla to a small frozen island in the South Pole. A powerful assault was launched against the enormous dinosaur mutation, though the Kaiju King easily resisted it, and he destroyed several of the fighter jets with his atomic breath.
During the battle, the back portion of Kobayashi's jet was struck by one of the monster's radiation beams, and the severe damage thus incurred caused the plane to begin losing altitude rapidly. Determined to make his rapidly impending death count for something, the quick thinking young pilot steered his descending jet towards a large snow-covered mountain peak above the atomic-powered kaiju, realizing that it would start a huge avalanche that the beast might not be able to escape from.

Upon witnessing Kobayashi's sacrifice and the ensuing avalanche, the other pilots quickly augmented their deceased comrade's strategy by focusing their firepower on the top of the snow peak, rather than Godzilla himself, thereby causing the avalanche to become more and more devastating. Reacting in desperation, Godzilla attempted to melt the thousands of tons of falling snow with his atomic breath, but it was all for naught; within several minutes, Kobayashi's pre mortem stratagem had worked, and the nuclear monster was buried under countless thousands of tons of snow. This placed the monster in a state of cold-induced suspended animation that would last for seven years due to artistic license, Godzilla was reported under the name "Gigantus, the Fire Monster" by the American Warner Post newspaper during its coverage of Godzilla's second attack on Japan.

The noted Japanese marine biologist Dr. Shinzo Mafune, while investigating the area of the Ogasawara Island chain where Godzilla and Anguirus were said to originate from, discovers another amphibious dinosaur mutation, whom he names Titanosaurus. This particular kaiju, however, is very gentle, shy, and inoffensive, and spends almost all of his time under the sea and avoiding human populations. When the rather brazen Dr. Mafune reports his discovery to the government, the inability of the rest of the scientific community to uncover evidence of the elusive Titanosaurus's existence causes them to ridicule Dr. Mafune, accusing him in the press of trying to cash in on the tragic events relating to Godzilla's two recent attacks on Japan in order to bolster his own reputation as a scientist in a rude and heartless fashion.

This resulted in nearly two decades of constant ostracizement against Dr. Mafune by the rest of the scientific community and the Japanese government, and this caused the brilliant scientist to become increasingly emotionally unstable over the ensuing years. Undaunted, and growing eager for revenge over the next two decades, he continued to study Titanosaurus over the years during the rare occasions that his meticulous tracking was able to even locate the shy creature.

Eventually, Dr. Mafune began experimenting with various sonic frequency waves that he believed would attract the beast's attention, and this experimentation would result in the errant scientist having a powerful weapon in his hands two decades later.

1956

A small mining town called Kitamatsu, a section of Kyushu, is besieged by more creatures mutated by atomic radiation, in this case the remnants of a species of extremely dangerous pseudo-insect larger than a man known as Meganulon also likely to be the result of Muan genetic experimentation, as they created the Meganulon and the Kamakiras pseudo-insects to be highly territorial and dangerous to human beings so that these rapidly reproducing creatures would provide perfect guardians of various locales.

While the police and other citizens of Kitamatsu fight off the plague of Meganulon, it is soon discovered that the mines have several underground caverns leading to the dormant volcano known as Mt. Aso. There, two pteranodon eggs laying in suspended animation are revived and mutated by warm irradiated water that has been flowing down there over the past decade, and two extremely large and powerful flying monsters emerge as a result these were obviously exceptionally large artificial pteranodon created ages ago by Muan science, who became far larger and more powerful still as a result of absorbing and metabolizing the radiation to restructure their DNA.

Though the creatures devour all of the Meganulon immediately upon hatching, thus ending the infestation, they soon prove to be a far greater menace. Referred to as Rodan, a shortened form of "pteranodon," the two flying kaiju attack and devestate several cities across Japan, including Sasebo and Yawata, with the J.S.D.F. helpless to stop them.

The twin Rodan are evidently dispatched at last when Mt. Aso is bombed by a Japanese military assault force, which causes the dormant volcano to erupt once more, seemingly consuming both monsters it would later turn out that only one of them was killed.

A concierge of pacifistic international scientific geniuses and inventors, led by the American human prodigy known only as Dr. Malik, due to their extreme disgust with the economic world order and the material imperatives that consign most scientific and technological breakthroughs to the benefit of the few at the expense of the many, broke away from the rest of humanity to form a secret think tank. Many of them fake their own deaths to keep up the ruse, and they resolve to pool their considerable talents and resources into creating a large, quasi-utopian city that would be situated underneath the sea, where it would remain free from interference from the governments of the numerous nation-states in the world. The city would be populated by various refugees and hard working people from across the world, though the specifications regarding how they these people were specifically chosen for the honor remains the secret of the scientists.

There it was hoped that a self-sustained mini-society free from the touch of the capitalistic global order on the surface above them would enable these scientists to work free of the constraints of their employers, both private and governmental, and to enable them to utilize their great scientific and technological achievements to one day benefit all of humanity, instead of being used for the selfish and often destructive purposes of the nation-states' various elite ruling classes.

After much planning and deliberating among the scientists, the city is designed and built over the course of just a few years, and the magnificent underwater metropolis is named Latitude Zero by its inhabitants, though it would be 13 years before the plan came to the attention of the greater surface world.

Shortly after the city's establishment, Dr. Malik's true intentions of using the scientists' advances for his own personal gain was discovered, and he was ousted from the project by the other scientists and inventors there. Nevertheless, the ruthless scientific genius swore vengeance upon the city in the future.

Several of the scientists of Latitude Zero were experts in radiation, and they created a contained radiation shield that surrounded the entire city, thus keeping Dr. Malik and other undesirables out.

1957

Earth has its first major encounter with one of the stellar Lemurian/Muan colonies, as a contingent of male colonists estranged from their home planetoid they call Mysteroid, which is said to have been destroyed in a nuclear holocaust, arrive on their homeworld, specifically in Japan, albeit secretly at first as they make a base for themselves within Mt. Fuji. They begin attacking small Japanese villages to demonstrate their power, and they soon release a giant, destructive robot called Mogera to lay waste to the surrounding countryside. Mogera is destroyed when the robot steps across a large railroad bridge that was rigged with explosives.

Scientific analysis of the robot's remains and several UFO sightings in the vicinity of Mt. Fuji cause the Japanese government to correctly conclude that there is an advanced alien race in their midst, and this is soon announced to the world. The Mysterians make themselves known by issuing their former homeworld an ultimatum, demanding that a certain amount of land is given to them, as well as human women to enable the all-male aliens to mate with and reinvigorate their damaged genetic stock, having taken a few female villagers for this purpose already. Deciding that the aliens were not to be trusted due to all of their previous hostile actions, all the nations of the world quickly band together to form the Earth Defense Force. This compels the now united nations to develop more advanced technology, including the super-planes known as the Alpha and Beta, and the Markelite, whose maser weaponry would later be used against various dai kaiju.

Though the Mysterians initially prove unstoppable due to their superior technology, the Earth Defense Force quickly discover the ability of the maser weaponry to turn the aliens' weapons against them, and this leads to the destruction of the Mysterians' base, both on Earth and in orbit, and the end of their plan to take control of the Earth.

The new technology developed by the governments of Earth's nation-states during this conflict, particularly the Markelite technology, as well as by examining the few remnants of Mysterian technology left over after the battle, would allow the Earth to develop even further advanced levels of technology in the future.

1958

A giant dinosaur mutation later called Varan emerges from a large bracket water lake on the South Seas island known as Kunish-shirioshima, terrorizing both the native population and a group of Japanese scientists and soldiers who are present.

The beast eventually leaves the island and heads for the Japanese city of Oneda, battling and resisting the attacks of several J.S.D.F. naval and aerial assaults in the process. After the beast finally comes ashore at Oneda, he is tricked into swallowing a powerful explosive device that causes the kaiju severe internal injuries, and the creature wades back into the sea to slowly heal.

The report given in the U.S. news media claimed a largely different story than the Japanese media, the former of whom insisted that the U.S. Navy was present on the island when the monster first appeared, and that American Naval Commander James L. Branden was the one whose strategy finally defeated the beast.

1960

Early in this year, a Chinese paramilitary organization known as the Red Bamboo, comprised of maverick military generals, personnel, and technical engineers, set up a secret base on a small uncharted Pacific atoll known as Letchi Island. On this atoll, they set up a military base, and their ultimate goal is to develop nuclear weaponry in secret in order to become a third sovereign world "super power" to rival that of the United States and the Soviet Union, as the Cold War was in its heyday at this time. The leaders of this dangerous organization set themselves a timetable of seven years in order to accomplish their projected goal.

In the course of constructing their base and working on developing atomic power sources, they ended up leaking large amounts of nuclear waste into the nearby environment, which mutated various genetically enhanced fauna around the island who were descended from animals bred many millennia past by Muan scientists, and the most prominent of these mutations to emerge in the following years was the giant voracious mutant lobster named 'Ebirah' by the organization, who provided a major hazard to anyone unfortunate enough to approach the island by boat, since the creatures genetic "programming" caused it to be extremely territorial and to attack and devour any human beings that approached its territory.

It was also discovered that for unknown reasons, Ebirah could be repelled by spraying large quantities of juice from a certain fruit native to Letchi Island while traveling over the water, and this provided the means for Red Bamboo boats and ships to come and go from the island at will without being attacked by the monster crustacean.

1961

A joint American/Japanese expedition journeys to an atoll called Infant Island, which lies within the Caroline Island chain, and was the testing site for American atomic bombs two decades earlier, due to rumors they heard from the crew of a ship called the Kingumaru that was blown off course by a typhoon. As a result of those atomic bomb tests, most of the flora and fauna of the island was killed by the radiation, yet the surviving crewmen of the Kingumaru claimed they were spared death by radiation sickness thanks to a friendly human native population that provided them with a special elixir which granted them immunity to the radiation.

The expedition was thus sent to the island to investigate these claims, and this was funded by the wealthy American capitalist named Clark Nelson of Rosilica Industries, whose legendary arrogance often caused the Japanese press to whimsically proclaim that 'Rosilica' and 'America' were one and the same whenever Nelson was in Japan, due to the vexatious businessman's imperious attitude!.

Upon the arrival and exploration of the expedition, it was discovered that the small amount of surviving flora in the outer portion of the island was mutated, and one plant species even developed into a semi-ambulatory entity that could ensnare and drink the blood of large animals, including humans.

It was discovered that a small area at the very center of the island still supported abundant animal and plant life, and a small tribe of friendly natives did indeed thrive there. Much to the surprise of the crew, the tribe was led by two priestesses called the Shobijan, who were identical twins only six inches in height, and they were telepathically linked so that they almost always spoke in unison.

The center of the island was protected from the radiation by a bio-mystical force field created by the power of the Earth itself, as this was the resting place of the protector of life on the planet, a gigantic moth known as Mothra, who was evidently created by the life force of Mother Earth herself. At this time, Mothra lay insensate within a huge egg-like structure, her latest incarnation having not yet hatched, and her still gestating form was in complete telepathic contact with the Shobijan.

When the two priestesses are captured by men under Nelson's command and taken back to Japan to be put on display for profit, the egg hatches, and Mothra's larval form emerges, quickly swimming to Japan to save the priestesses. The giant caterpillar's destructive trek through Tokyo towards the American embassy where the Shobijan are being held on behalf of Nelson causes her to engage the J.S.D.F. in combat, and the injured young kaiju retreats to a cocoon atop Tokyo Tower, there to pupate into her more powerful adult stage. Upon emerging a few days later despite an unsuccessful attempt by the Japanese military to destroy her whilst pupating with a weapon referred to as an atomic heat gun [obviously modified maser technology], the adult Mothra proved considerably more resistant to military attack than her larva stage did.

Ultimately, she flew to New York City, where Rosilica Industries was headquartered and where Nelson fled with the Shobijan the first time a dai kaiju appeared in America since the dinosaur mutation called the 'Rhedosaurus' attacked the city during the previous decade. Upon retrieving her tiny allies, the giant moth peacefully returned to Infant Island.

1962

A U.N. nuclear powered submarine known as the Sea Hawk inadvertently collides with the glacier containing Godzilla's insensate form while investigating a mysterious radiation source. The force of the collision combined with the infusion of radiation from the Sea Hawk's wreckage revived the Atomic Titan, who proceeded to immediately attack a NATO base to replenish his nuclear energy reserves. He then turned his attention back on Japan, where he was soon razing the city of Osaka.

Simultaneously, a small commercial expedition led by a Mr. Tako, a rather inept executive of the Japanese drug-producing company known as Pacific Pharmaceuticals, landed on Farou Island, one of the various atolls scattered about the Pacific Ocean that boasts a small but thriving population of ultra-large dinosaurs and other enormous animals, in order to acquire samples of the unique type of soma berries which grew there, as a non-addictive narcotic could be produced by the juice the seeming prehistoric survivors and other odd animal species are believed to be leftovers from ancient genetic engineering projects conducted by the advanced Muan civilization of that era; the American press at the time spread a rumor suggesting that scientists had hypothesized that the enormous size of many of the animals on that island was the result of their consumption of the soma berries, due to their inexplicable attachment to that particular type of fruit, but that remains a pure unsubstantiated supposition. It's still possible, however, that certain type of fruits, which may also be the result of ancient Muan genetic engineering, would have a dramatic effect upon the enhanced metabolisms of many of these animal descendants of ancient Muan science upon frequent consumption, just as the fruit of a certain plant on Letchi Island had the effect of repelling the giant lobster Ebirah; this would explain why King Kong, a surviving remnant of the ultra-apes created ages earlier by Muan science as a bio-weapon, and a few ultra-dinos on those islands, such as Gorosaurus, achieved a size far greater than their descendants.

While on the island, Mr. Tako's party confirmed rumors of the existence of a gigantic, 45 meter tall bipedal ape on Farou Island, whom the primitive natives living there referred to as 'King Kong' [it was also stated in the American press at the time that legends of other such giant apes were extant throughout the world, thus underscoring the fact that several such beasts were produced by ancient Muan genetic experimentation]. The massive ape first appeared before Tako's expedition when a giant octopus attacked the village for its barrels of soma berry juice, and Kong drove the huge cephalopod away. Upon imbibing several jugs of the juice, Kong anesthetized himself, and was taken back to Japan by Tako's crew in a projected publicity campaign.

Kong quickly escaped upon arriving at Japan's shores, and his sojourn through the island nation ultimately resulted in a mutually hostile confrontation with Godzilla. During their initial confrontation, the powerful dinosaur mutation drove the gigantic ape away with his atomic breath.

Kong then made a trek through Tokyo, only to end up anesthetized again by large amounts of dust composed of the soma berry juice dropped on him by J.S.D.F. aircraft. Kong was then transported to an area near Mt. Fuji where Godzilla was present, after the Kaiju King thwarted an elaborate attempt by the J.S.D.F. to defeat him, as it was hoped that the two towering dai kaiju would destroy each other in combat.

As the battle was joined, the Big G seemed to have the upper hand through much of the conflict, though Kong ultimately managed to re-enter the battle thanks to his ability to absorb electricity to temporarily enhance his stamina, recuperative ability, and to administer electrical shocks to an opponent with his touch. The battle ended with both kaiju fell into the sea [the American press report claimed this occurred just following an unexpected earthquake, something not recorded in the Japanese press version]. Though Godzilla was in his element in the water, he was evidently still driven off by Kong, as the latter was the only one of the two to resurface, and the simian titan began his long swim back towards Farou Island.

After swimming for a lengthy period of time, King Kong came upon the atoll known as Mondo Island, which was very similar to that of Farou Island in terms of its native flora and fauna, including having several mega-dinosaurs and other unusual giant animals who were descendants of ancient Muan genetic experimentation living on it. Having no inclination to swim all the way back to Farou Island, the Ape King was more than content to remain on Mondo Island instead.

1963

A small group of sailing tourists are stranded on a remote, uncharted South Seas island. They are unaware that a new species of mutated fungus later christianed 'Matango' exists there, probably as a result of genetically altered species of fungi being mutated by the ubiquitous radiation of the many atomic bomb tests conducted by the U.S. in that region, which began two decades earlier.

Refusing to work together cooperatively from the onset, these people are doomed even further upon ingesting the Matango fungi, as it takes over the entirety of their bodily systems, resulting in hallucinations, insanity, and murderous violence, and it ultimately culminates in the transformation of these people into anthropomorphic fungoid creatures as the bizarre fungi completely takes over every aspect of their physiology. The sole survivor of this ill-fated crew was likewise infected by the Matango fungi, and his rescue enabled Japanese scientists to observe and record the effects of the Matango fungi up close.

During this year, the undersea Mu Empire that survives from the remnants of the culture and advanced technology developed by the once above-sea continent of Lemuria/Mu finally decided to make an official, overt attempt to reclaim rulership of the surface world, something its predecessors held many millennia earlier. The Muan Empire threatened to attack and destroy both New York City and Tokyo in a display of its power if every nation-state in the world did not surrender to them, and their superior technology enabled them to fend off all U.N. sanctioned attempts to stop them.

As the Empress of Mu, true to her word, ordered the promised attacks to be conducted, the long-missing Japanese naval war hero Captain Shinguji finally emerged from his South Seas atoll hideaway with the completed Atragon war machine he had been in the process of constructing since the end of World War II. This powerful combat machine was designed to be able to navigate every possible combat environment, including the air, the sea, the land, and underground.

Though Captain Shinguji's fierce patriotic fervor initially caused him to vehemently decline using Atragon to defend any nation other than his native Japan, his daughter Mokoro soon convinced him to use his formidable war machine on behalf of the entire world. Thus, under the command of Capt. Shinguji, Atragon launched a successful attack against the Muan Empire that penetrated all of their defenses and put the powerful undersea nation on the defensive. In response, the Muan government released the giant sea serpent Manda, named after Mu's official state-sponsored deity, who was likely the sole leftover of the original, above sea level Muan Empire's experiments in genetic engineering to create various aquatic bio-weapons who was still under the direct control of the new Muan Empire. After the sea serpent engages in a vicious but ultimately brief battle with Atragon, the war machine subdues Manda with its freeze-inducing Zero Cannon.

Led by Capt. Shinguji, an assault force from Atragon then invades the portion of the Muan nation containing its main power generators, which utilize the intense sub-thermal heat from the planet's core as its primary power source. Setting up a massive explosive device in that area, the main power generators are detonated, resulting in the complete destruction of the undersea, modern Muan Empire, thus soundly thwarting its attempt to reclaim control of the surface world.

Manda would survive, however, and soon recovered from being placed into temporary suspended animation by the Zero Cannon, and the giant sea serpent now lived according to his own volition.

Upon the successful defeat of the Muan Empire thanks to the actions of Capt. Shinguji, the U.N. Security Council votes unanimously that the Atragon should be placed at the disposal of all member nations, but utilized only if a threat emerges on such a scale that the security of the entire world is decreed to be in evidence. Capt. Shinguji grudgingly agrees to this decision, and then retreats to a series of unrecorded exploits .

1964

When a satellite is launched into upper Earth orbit during the second month of the year, it inadvertently collides with an unidentified protoplasmic "space cell" of unknown origin possibly one of the oft-postulated "critters," a type of upper stratospheric, usually invisible plasma-based life form. This somehow results in the plasmic cell mutating into the huge, atmospherically based, and multi-tentacled gelatinous plasmic creature later named 'Dagora,' who possesses the power to control graviton energy, and thus levitate physical objects. Feeding on coal and other similar mineral substances, the Dagora organism quickly becomes a menace to the entire world, as it threatens to consume every bit of that non-renewable energy source across the globe. An ill-advised military attack on the plasmic dai kaiju results in the creature being split into thousands of smaller versions of itself.

Finally, every single Dagora "offspring" is destroyed when it's surmised that bee venom can somehow neutralize the creatures by crystallizing their semi-solid plasmic substance; as a result, huge amounts of the venom is quickly synthesized at research labs around the world, and sprayed in vast amounts throughout the atmosphere, thus eliminating the threat.

A scientist who had been studying Dagora, Dr. Munikata, resolves to ask the United Nations for funding to study space cell produced plasmic energy, though it's unknown whether that project ever materialized.

In the early spring of this year, Mothra's latest adult stage was coming to its end, and in order to continue her perpetual life cycle, the Kaiju of Peace created a new egg out of her own personal bio-mystical energies, drawn from the etheric life force, or 'mana,' of the planet Earth itself. An embryonic caterpillar gestated within the organic egg construct, within whom the weakened adult Mothra would project her life force upon the larva's emergence from the egg.

A short time after this "egg" was produced, the weakened adult Mothra went into a catatonic state to preserve what energy remained within her, in case of an emergency that may have needed her attention. As she did so, however, an unusually severe monsoon ensued, and the egg was washed away from Infant Island in the storm.

Washing ashore on the Japanese mainland near the city of Nagoya, the egg is taken by representatives of an unscrupulous capitalist named Kumayama, the CEO of a company known rather ironically as Happy Enterprises. The egg is placed within a huge incubator built by the company, who hope to put it on display for profit. Mothra's tiny priestesses, the Shobijan, soon arrive in Nagoya and plead for the release of the Infant Islanders' cherished egg, but are met with deaf ears by the greedy Kumayama.

However, it turns out that Godzilla was also roused by the severity of the storm. Possibly attracted by the strange psychic emanations he can perceive from within the egg, the Kaiju King appears in Nagoya, and rampages through the city. The J.S.D.F. proves unable to halt the atomic beast's attack, despite assistance from the U.S. Navy, who launch a Frontier Missile assault upon the vicious kaiju an incident that was widely reported in the American press, but was neglected by the Japanese press in its official reports due to an oversight.

Desperate for help, a reporter named Shiro Sakai accompanies two scientists to Infant Island to ask the natives and the Shobijan for Mothra's assistance in repelling Godzilla from Japan. Due to Kumayama's refusal to return the egg to them, however, the natives of Infant Island likewise refuse to render Mothra's aid to Japan.

However, once Godzilla begins approaching and imperiling the egg itself, the weakened adult Mothra hastily flies to Japan to defend her still extremely vulnerable progeny. Although Mothra puts up a very good fight, due to her weakened state she is eventually overcome and killed by Godzilla. Nevertheless, she still succeeded in driving the former kaiju's attention away from the egg, and he resumes his attack on Nagoya during which Kumayama meets his demise in the ensuing rampage.

Although the J.S.D.F. actually comes close to killing Godzilla thanks to an elaborate plan known as Operation: Artificial Lightening, which involves dropping a highly electrified gigantic metallic net on the kaiju from several jets flying overhead, the infamous beast ultimately escapes this trap. He then makes his way to a small atoll just off the coast of Japan called Iwo Island, where he threatens the safety of a group of elementary school children and a few of their teachers who are on a field trip there.

Finally agreeing to lend their assistance to save these children, the Shobijan perform a singing ritual in front of the egg, which focuses their psychic energy upon the entity within the egg and hastens its hatching, as the life force of the now deceased adult Mothra is transferred to the next generation of the Kaiju of Peace. This time, however, twin Mothra larvae emerge from the egg, rather than just a single caterpillar this atypical occurrence is possibly due to added energy appropriated from Earth's biosphere as part of the Shobijan's psychic appeal, due to the extreme need for extra power to counter Godzilla's threat, something a single larva would be unlikely to accomplish, and the larvae, both controlled by a single consciousness, promptly swim towards Iwo Island.

Upon their arrival, the twin larvae engage Godzilla in a fierce battle, directing his attention away from the school children present on the island's environs. Although the two larvae seemed outmatched by Godzilla's might initially, they eventually manage to actually defeat the Atomic Titan by ensconcing themselves in a rocky hedge and together coordinating their attack so as to envelope Godzilla in an extremely strong silken web. This ultimately causes Godzilla to fall into the sea, where he retreats from Japan.

With the children safe and the threat of Godzilla effectively neutralized, the twin larvae then peacefully swim back to Infant Island.

Upon arriving on Infant Island, one of the two larvae is devoured by the other, as it wasn't truly a separate entity, but in actuality one of two physical shells controlled by a single consciousness for the purpose of one specific emergency, and was thus deemed redundant by the life force of the Earth.

In mid-December of that year, another of the intrasolar Muan colonies, an imperialistic race known as the Xians who thrive on a huge asteroid between Mars and Jupiter, are attracted to Earth in the wake of the Mysterian invasion and prepare to take the resource rich planet for themselves.

Dwelling underground in the planetoid, the Xians, who have long since divested themselves of most of their emotions and individuality, have developed a numerically based language and function according to a warped form of logic in which they conclude that all other civilizations in the solar system are "inferior" to them. Hence, according to this logic-based form of ethics, they feel free to attempt to take their former home planet by force. The Xian race appears to be run by the most intellectually adroit inhabitant, who bears the title of Controller.

In order to test the mettle of the people of Earth, as well as leaving the planet devastated in preparation for the Terran' subjugation, the Xians direct the tri-headed, winged, interstellar dragon-like beast known and feared throughout the galaxy as King Ghidorah, who is incubating in his energy form within a physical chrysalis-like shell that resembles a large ferrous meteor, towards the Earth.

Evidently, King Ghidorah appears to hail from no home world whatsoever, but seems to have initially been "born" somewhere in deep space as a being of pure energy who found a way of converting itself into a physical dragon-like form, which is a universal prototypical template of some sort, to enable the life form to ravage planets physically in order to acquire the raw energy it needs to perpetuate its existence.

In order to reach such worlds scattered throughout the immense interstellar void, King Ghidorah will revert back to his energy form, where he can then accrue various physical debris from space to form a material, ferrous shell about himself, thus enabling him to navigate warp space for faster-than-light travel, during which he will survive in a state of consciousness somewhat similar to the sleeping state in various sentient beings and King Ghidorah is very likely to have a form of proto-sentience himself. Once he locates a suitable planet, he will leave warp space, direct his ferrous outer shell containing his energy form to land on the planet's surface, and gradually absorb energy from the planet's magnetic field to incubate until he gains enough energy to return to his physical form extended travel through warp space takes a tremendous amount of energy from the space kaiju. Once the beast's energy emerges from the ferrous shell, it quickly transforms into King Ghidorah's physical form, where he can then use his incredible physical might, backed up by his ability to spew forth beams of electro-magnetic energy from each of his three maws, to tear the planet asunder in order to acquire whatever forms of energy he needs for sustenance. Though King Ghidorah has ravaged many worlds inhabited by sentient races, more advanced races such as the Muan expatriate colony known as the Xians have learned that the creature can be controlled and manipulated by them as little more than a devestatingly poweful bio-weapon via technology that projects certain waves of energy directed at his central controlling cerebellum that exists within his abdomen; the creature doesn't possess three brains in each of his heads.

The Xians insured that King Ghidorah found his way towards Earth, just as he once wiped out an ancient Muan colony on the planet Mars thousands of years in the past...possibly under his own volition, but also possibly at the behest of the Xian colony.

Upon arriving on Earth, the ferrous meteor containing the incubating energy form of King Ghidorah landed in the Kurobe Gorge area of Japan. As it arrived, the current head of the nation of Saligna, Princess Salna, who was then traveling on a private aircraft towards a diplomatic mission to Japan, found her consciousness taken over by the channeled intelligence of one of her distant Muan ancestors, the most powerful esper among the ancient Muan colony, who had been forced to flee their adopted home on the planet Mars after their small but thriving civilization was destroyed by King Ghidorah.

As it turned out, Princess Salna's life was in danger, since a group of Salignian insurgents, led by a sadistic agent named Malness, were out to assassinate her in order to take over the seat of the Salignian government, and her plane was rigged to explode at a certain point in the journey. Her psyche now subsumed under the channeled consciousness of her ancient Muan ancestor, the Princess was directed to leap from the plane, and did so just prior to its explosion though how she survived after doing so, and how she then turned up alive and unscathed in Japan, remains a mystery.

Meanwhile, as King Ghidorah lay incubating within his ferrous shell, his "feeding" off of Earth's magnetic energy to enable him to eventually emerge from the shell and take on physical form caused a freak winter heat wave to hit the island nation, and also caused the ferrous shell to rapidly grow in size and act as a gigantic magnet.

The Princess soon arrived in Japan, where her ancestor, still in control of her consciousness via the aforementioned form of channeling that manifested within her racial memory, described the past civilization on Mars that was destroyed by King Ghidorah to the Japanese press, and warned the population of modern Japan that the space beast was now on Earth, incubating within his ferrous shell, and that upon his emergence and resumption of physical form, he would wreak terrible havoc upon the planet, just as he did to Mars thousands of years earlier. The Japanese press reported the prophetic rantings of the mind-controlled Princess Salna with varying degrees of accuracy, including incorrectly reporting the colony world of the ancient Muans as being Venus; furthermore, the fact that the Martian colony hailed from the ancient Earth civilization of Mu went unreported by the entranced Princess Salna, since the ancestral esper who was controlling her mind was born in one of the Martian colonies and thus considered it her natural home, thus causing many readers to incorrectly conclude that the ancestors of the modern Salignians were actually indigenous to another planet in the solar system, which is quite untrue.

Furthermore, using her newly emerged precognitive abilities, the Princess announced that the electromagnetic energies that the slumbering King Ghidorah was absorbing for sustenance was going to have further environmental consequences for Japan, and would result in not only attracting Godzilla's attention to the island nation once more, but would also revive the sole surviving Rodan from his suspended animation under Mt. Aso, where he had been entombed in suspended animation for the past eight years in order to recover from his ill-fated contact with massive amounts of molten lava.

However, Malness and his fellow Salignian insurgents recognized Princess Salna upon her reappearance, and befuddled by her survival of the sabotage of her personal jet, they resolved to kill her up close and personal, and in order to protect her, she was placed under the protective watch of an intrepid detective named Shindo. Reacting to the psychic premonitions of Princess Salna, the Shobijan, who were in Japan at the time performing on a variety show of their own volition, arrived to assist in protecting the Princess and to inform her that Mothra, who was still in larva form at this time, stood ready to protect the Earth from the threat of King Ghidorah, even though they doubted she possessed the power to do so herself while in larva form, Mothra was unable to enter her adult stage at this point in her life cycle, and could only do so in a quick fashion if she was injured severely. With the assistance of his sister and the Shobijan, Shindo ultimately thwarted the attempt at the Princess's life by Malness and his cohorts.

As it turned out, by this point in time, Godzilla and Rodan, who did indeed appear as prophesied by Princess Salna, had both further mutated [this was likely inadvertantly exacerbated by the disruption of Earth's magnetic fields in that vicinity of the world by the incubating King Ghidorah]. Not only did their appearances change somewhat, but Godzilla and Rodan were now able to achieve a degree of rudimentary sentience, perhaps on par with that of a learning impaired human being, and they also seemed to have increased psychic awareness. However, upon their emergence, they still reacted to the human race in a hostile fashion, due to their memories of the human military forces attacking them in the past. In fact, immediately upon surfacing from the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Godzilla destroyed a commercial ship with his atomic breath.

Soon encountering each other in Yokohama, Godzilla and Rodan engaged each other in a fierce battle.
To make matters far worse, King Ghidorah finally emerged from his metallic chrysalis, and upon resuming his physical form seconds later, he began his assault on Japan in earnest, destroying several villages in the Mt. Fuji area within hours. All attempts by the J.S.D.F. to stop the space demon proved futile.

Determined to carry out her sacred duty to protect the Earth, Mothra hoped to increase her chances for success by using her psychic abilities to appeal to the now semi-sentient Godzilla and Rodan to assist her. Interrupting their stalemated battle to do so, both monsters spurned her request the purely psychic communique' between the three monsters accomplished by Mothra's telepathic abilities was whimsically and inaccurately referred to in both Japanese and American press reports as part of a "monster language"; this, of course, was quite incorrect, as Mothra was able to psychically communicate with the now proto-sentient Godzilla and Rodan, unlike the Shobijan, who could only communicate with Mothra herself, and the latter kaiju would telepathically convey what Godzilla and Rodan were "saying" via a 'reading' of their most prominent surface thoughts and emotions to her priestesses, who then verbally translated these intense thoughts and emotions to the humans in words their sound-oriented means of communication could comprehend.

Undaunted by the rebuke of her two fellow kaiju, Mothra attempted to fend off King Ghidorah herself, only to find herself absolutely no match for the star dragon in her larva form. However, perhaps shamed in a sense, and realizing instinctually what a serious threat King Ghidorah posed to the entire Earth, Godzilla and Rodan decided to come to Mothra's aid after all. Combining their might in a single intense and all-out battle, the three Earth kaiju managed to drive King Ghidorah from the planet.

Upon their victory, Mothra and the Shobijan returned to Infant Island, and Godzilla and Rodan would now resolve to no longer directly threaten human civilization under their own initiative though for the rest of the '60's decade, they would still be feared by humanity at large, and could still pose a threat to any human being or group of humans who got in their path or invaded whatever island territory they happened to claim as their own.

Godzilla Time Line. Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeWed Nov 11, 2009 5:00 am

1965

In February of this year, the larval Mothra entered her cocoon, where she would lay for the next few months in a state of suspended animation as she pupated into her adult form.

In March of this year, the Natalians, a diminutive race of semi-humanoid beings who were formerly a genetic servant race created by the Mysterians who eventually broke away from Mysteriod to form their own outpost society on a different asteroid who, like their fully human parent race, suffered from dwindling resources, decided to attempt to take over the Earth and transform it into a Natalian colony. Like the Mysterian invasion eight years earlier, the Natalians' attack on the Earth resulted in all the nations of the world combining their efforts, militarily and technologically, to resist this invasion. The battle with the Natalians ended on the surface of the moon, where they had established a base, and the Earth forces were victorious.

In May of this year, the international astronomical community discovered the existence of the enormous mobile planetoid of the Xians in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, which they dubbed "Planet X" due to its immense size for a planetoid and unknown origin. Since this object had not existed in the solar system just a few months earlier, it was chosen by the United Nations to be the target of investigation for the planned test mission of a new, highly experimental spacecraft designed for long-range travel within the solar system.

However, this ship had no warp drive capacity, and was thus relegated to "slow" sub-light speeds, and the trip from Earth to the asteroid belt beyond the orbit of Mars took a few months. Due to the technical problems inherent with building a ship large enough to encompass even a moderate sized crew, this experimental U.N. vessel was limited to two crewman, an American named Glenn and a Japanese named Fuji.

Upon landing on Planet X, it was discovered to be extremely desolate on the surface, much as was expected. Nevertheless, they soon made contact with the Controller of the Xians who lived beneath the surface of the mobile planetoid, and the alien commander put up the pretense of having benevolent intentions. While receiving a tour of the underground Xian facilities, Glenn and Fuji were shown an attack by King Ghidorah upon the surface of that world (whom the numerically fixated Xians referred to as "Monster Zero"), and the Controller claimed that it was due to the space dragon's constant attacks that they were forced to stay beneath the surface of the planet [it would seem that the Controller made the implication that Planet X always existed within Earth's solar system, and they simply cloaked its presence with their advanced technology until recent months, when they finally chose to reveal themselves, a story that may have appeared plausible on the surface; also, at this point in time, the people of Earth were unaware that King Ghidorah could be controlled with relative ease by various magnetic waves.

The Xians offered the Earth explorers the following deal: in exchange for allowing them to "borrow" the services of Godzilla and Rodan to help them drive off King Ghidorah once and for all as the two monsters did on Earth a few months in the past, they would provide all the governments on Earth with a tape obviously adapted for Earth technology of the time that would reveal the means to cure all diseases known to humanity evidently, since Mothra was pupating in her cocoon on Infant Island, she was considered no threat to the Xians' plans of conquest, and this may have even influenced their decision to make the presence of their mobile planetoid in Earth's solar system known to the denizens of Sol III at this specific time. Glenn and Fuji elected to speak to their respective governments on the matter first, and the Controller had his engineers refurbish the Earthmen's space ship to enable it to travel back to Earth in a small fraction of the time it took them to travel from terra firma to Planet X.

Before the various governments of the U.N. could decide what to do, however, it was discovered that several Xian crafts were already submerged underwater near Japan, and they quickly located Godzilla and Rodan, whom they surrounded with spherical energy bubbles of concentrated magnetic force. The two monsters were then carted back to the surface of Planet X, where they were summarily pitted in battle against King Ghidorah, whom they seemingly drove from the planetoid, as the Xians claimed they had hoped for the surface of 'Planet X' was evidently altered by the Xians to give it an atmosphere that certain organic beings could easily survive in, and also to possess artificial gravity that granted it a surface pull roughly analogous to that of an Earth-sized planet. Though the U.N. Security Council was chagrined that the Xians had taken the two monsters without their permission, upon a second visit to the planetoid, Glenn and Fuji were indeed given a tape that they were told contained the promised information to cure all disease on Earth.

However, the tape turned out to simply contain a recorded message from the Xian Controller demanding that Earth surrender to them as one of their colonies; if the Earth governments refused to comply within a designated period of time, they would send not only their space craft to attack Earth cities, starting with Tokyo, but they also had Godzilla and Rodan whom they referred to as "Monster One" and "Monster Two," respectively under their control via mind-altering magnetic waves directed at their cerebral matter in the same fashion as King Ghidorah, and all three monsters would be sent to ravage the Earth. The Earth governments refused to surrender, and the Xian invasion of Earth began in earnest, with Tokyo hit first as promised.

In the meantime, Glenn and Fuji were captured and imprisoned by Xian agents on Earth when it turned out that Glenn's fiance, a woman known as Miss Namikawa, was secretly an Xian herself. However, while imprisoned Glenn and Fuji met a scientist named Tatsuo who was jailed by the Xians because he developed a new type of alarm device, as it was discovered that extremely loud sound frequencies had a severely detrimental effect upon Xian neurology. Managing to escape imprisonment, the three men revealed this Xian weakness to the U.N., and Miss Namikawa sacrificed her life to ensure that Glenn and his allies escaped safely, as her relationship with the man, initially under false pretenses, ended up causing the emotions that all Xians repress deeply to surface, and she thus truly came to love Glenn since it was revealed that all Xian females look identical, it can be surmised that the logic-driven aliens may have propagated their race solely by means of advanced cloning techniques, with the females of their race bred to be even less distinguishable from each other than the males for unknown reasons; it's interesting to note that Xian spacecraft resemble the "flying saucers" of 20th century Earth folklore.

Armed with the knowledge of the Xians' neural vulnerability, U.N. scientists developed a weapon known as the 'A-Cycle Light Ray,' which projected a form of piercing sound frequency that not only caused the Xians in their flying saucers to go insane, but also disrupted their control over the three monsters. Refusing to allow themselves and their technology to be captured, the Xian crewmen self-destructed each of their invading craft, committing suicide in the process.

Now free from Xian control, Godzilla and Rodan turned on King Ghidorah, and after a fierce but relatively brief battle, the space demon was once again driven from the Earth, and the two victorious Earth monsters left the vicinity underwater, where they had fallen during their struggle with the star kaiju.

Soon after the Xian invasion attempt of Earth was repulsed, Mothra emerged from her cocoon in adult form, and resumed her protective duties of Infant Island, and the entire planet. Evidently, however, no major emergency appeared that required her attention during this time.

Realizing the ingenuity of the Earth people, the Xians remaining beneath Planet X logically deduced that they had best steer their mobile planetoid into the further depths of Earth's solar system to regroup and resume their conflicts with other Muan intrasolar colonies, though they would return their attention to Earth and make another attempt at conquering the third planet from the yellow dwarf star Sol at some point in the future after the general populace of Earth began creating their own intrasolar colonies.

Later this year, an American physician named Dr. James Bowen, a specialist in treating radiation-related illnesses, was working in a medical facility located on the outskirts of Hiroshima, along with his colleagues Dr. Sueko Togami and Dr. Kenichiro Kawaji. Their clinic was established for the purpose of treating the many victims of the tragic atom bombing of that city towards the end of World War II, many of whom were still suffering the ill effects of the radiation, including numerous incidences of serious birth defects.

In the meantime, Dr. Togami soon learns that a strange homeless boy who appears to be in very early adolescence, likely a victim of birth defects resulting from the irradiation of his parents or grandparents following the bombing of the city in 1945, has been living off of the land, both in the outskirts of the city and the nearby wooded areas, by capturing and eating various small animals, including domesticated animals such as dogs and rabbits. Taking pity on the boy due to his sad situation, Dr. Togami throws him some meat in order to allow him to eat for one night without resorting to feeding upon animals who happened to be owned by people in the area.

Alerting Dr. Bowen to the situation, the two of them track down the boy when the latter was being hunted by several irate villagers, and discover that he was living in various caves along the nearby cliffs. They take the boy into their custody to both protect him from the dangers of living as he was, and to treat him for any illnesses he may have. It later turned out that the boy, who did indeed appear to be suffering from birth defects, and was both learning impaired albeit quite cunning and resourceful and mute, had discovered the damaged remains of the metal box holding the Frankenstein Monster's irradiated heart during one of his forays in search of food, and had eaten the organ. As a result, the boy's genetically altered chromosomes reacted with the incredible regenerative capacity of the Frankenstein Monster's DNA that had been accelerated by exposure to the atomic radiation of the atom bomb, and the boy began to rapidly mutate. Bowen and Togami resolve to learn who the boy's parents were, as well as his origins.

Meanwhile, the boy continued to grow larger and stronger, soon achieving a full adult height, with his physical features taking on certain of the Frankenstein Monster's attributes.

In the course of their research, Drs. Bowen, Togami, and Kawaji locate the now retired Lt. Kawai, who recalled collecting the heart of the Frankenstein Monster from a Nazi U-boat 21 years before, and the Drs. thus sought his advice in regards to uncovering the boy's history. In the meantime, the boy kept growing larger and soon stood over 20 feet in height, and had to be confined to a large cell in the basement of the hospital, much to the consternation of the facility's director, who insisted that they could no longer treat this newest and gigantic incarnation of the Frankenstein Monster as a regular patient, and argued that he should be sent elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kawaji traveled to Frankfurt, Germany in order to confer with the still surviving Dr. Reisendorf, who is a world renowned expert on the creature created over a century earlier by the scientific genius of Dr. Victor Frankenstein as well as the several "copycat" creatures created by certain relatives of Dr. Frankenstein, one of whom was created late in the 19th century by Dr. Henry Frankenstein. The retired German scientist informs Kawaji that the only way to determine if the mystery boy is indeed a new version of the Frankenstein Monster the first version who wasn't created by surgically combining parts of various human corpses is to amputate one of his limbs; if the boy grows a replacement limb, and if the severed limb continues to live, then the boy has indeed inherited the incredible cellular regenerative capacity of the original, near-human sized monster. Kawaji quickly returns to Japan to carry out this test.

Though Bowen and Togami are adamantly against conducting such a cruel means of testing the nature of the giant boy in their midst, Kawaji secretly carries out the amputation himself on one of the boy's hands. The severed hand does indeed continue to live, and remains animate with the ability to crawl about though it later escapes and dies and withers after traipsing about on its own for a few days.

Additionally, the boy begins regenerating a new hand as well as continuing to grow larger in size and strength, thus confirming that he is indeed a new version of the Frankenstein Monster the original monster barely stood over eight feet in height; the giant was soon nicknamed "Frankenstein" by the Japanese press, thus mirroring a long-standing and commonplace error made in the American and British media regarding confusion over the Monster's name, as many books and movies that were produced based upon the legend of the Monster in those two nations throughout the 20th century often incorrectly referred to the creature himself as "Frankenstein," when in actuality the name belonged to the scientist [and various descendants] who created the Monster. The Monster himself was actually never given a proper name, though some sources contend that the original creature later adopted "Victor," after the original Dr. Frankenstein's forename, as his own.

However, soon after Dr. Kawaji performs the amputation procedure, a group of reporters mobbed the basement area of the hospital where "Frankenstein" is caged and chained, thus unnerving the boy-turned-monster. Becoming extremely agitated, Frankenstein breaks free. Though the returning Dr. Bowen attempts to contain the creature, when the police arrive and fire on the giant, he breaks out of the hospital and enters the city. Appearing outside the window of Dr. Togami's apartment as if to say sayonara in remembrance for her past kindness, Frankenstein knocks aside a pursuing police car with a lamp post, and then proceeds to flee the city into the nearby woods, there to continue his primitive, hermit-like existence.

While Drs. Bowen and Kawaji hold a press conference to plead against the police actually killing the giant, pointing out that he is relatively harmless unless provoked, the creature begins crossing swords with the human population of Japan by stealing livestock for food in Himeji, and is later seen scrounging for food in the Okayama area of Osaka.
Further, Frankenstein has continued to grow in size, finally maxing out at a height surpassing 70 feet.

Bowen proposes that the creature's survival needs can be met if he is tracked and confined to a specific, uninhabited wooded area that is cordoned off from the public, and the creature can be given a regular large supply of food so that he will not feel the need to seek out sources of sustenance himself, which invariably turn out to be animals owned by local farmers; there, he can both be studied and left in peace by the general population. Nevertheless, the city of Okayama is placed under alert, though the cunning giant manages to elude the efforts of the police in tracking him down.

In the meantime, after a contingent of J.S.D.F. tanks locate and descend upon the giant in a small village near the Mt. Ibuki area, they are quickly trapped in large pit traps constructed by Frankenstein, who promptly and wisely leaves the vicinity after neutralizing the threat of the tanks. Dr. Bowen then opines that the giant is seeking a colder climate similar to that of Germany has he inherited some of the "racial memory" of the original monster?, and deduces that he will likely end up somewhere in the Mt. Fuji area.

However, a new danger appears on the scene when a previously unseen dai kaiju, in this case a subterranean dinosaur mutation known as Baragon, emerges from a mountainside in a small skiing village located near Mt. Fuji, and ends up killing a group of college students partying there during the creature's search for food. The monster also ravages the countryside, devouring large amounts of livestock in the process. The military and the press blame Frankenstein for these killings and other acts of destruction, even though Bowen and Kawaji correctly insist that the giant is innocent.

Nevertheless, Baragon continues his destructive raids around the countryside before quickly disappearing underground again, leaving numerous destroyed farms and dead humans in his wake, and when Frankenstein is sighted in the area by a group of school children, and is once again forced to fend off the military and retreat, even the giant's friends suspect that he is guilty.

However, the former Lt. Kawai comes forth and reveals that a few years earlier, he witnessed a massive earthquake near an oil field in the vicinity of Hiroshima when he caught a quick and furtive glimpse of an enormous underground monster with a luminescent nose horn. Kawai believes that this monster is actually responsible for the recent destruction in the countryside, not Frankenstein, and he also puts forth the hypothesis that many dinosaurs in prehistory survived the disaster that ended the Age of Reptiles by burrowing underground and going into suspended animation for millions of years, re-awakening only in recent times, and he was roundly ridiculed by the scientific community for stating this publicly, in actuality, it would appear that naturally occurring species of dinosaurs did indeed die out entirely 65 million years ago in the following the alleged fateful impact of an Apollo asteroid with the Earth; as explicated elsewhere on this time line, the many surviving dinosaurs extant on several small uncharted islands in the Pacific Ocean in the, many of which were twice as large as natural specimens of their respective species from the Mesozoic Era, are probably descendants of extra-large dinosaurs and other creatures who were artificially created many thousands of years ago by Lemurian/Muan scientists via advanced genetic engineering techniques, after the Muan scientists acquired stray bits of preserved dinosaur DNA, and some of these Muan dinosaur remnants attained a size many times larger than that of the "average" genetically engineered dinosaurs, including some of those found on Farou and Mondo Island, through unknown means; many of these surviving dinosaur remnants who were strewn across various Pacific atolls sometimes alone, other times alongside other such creatures...due to their enhanced genetic capacity inherited from their forebears, they didn't die after being exposed to massive amounts of radiation from the many atomic bomb tests secretly conducted by the American military in the Pacific during the 1940s, but were instead mutated into ultra-gigantic creatures, many with special powers and abilities, and Baragon appears to be one such dinosaur mutation. Many of the surviving genetically enhanced dinosaurs, however, did indeed appear to be living in a state of suspended animation, including the two unhatched Rodan eggs, but such suspended animation wasn't sustained for millions of years, but merely thousands, at most.

Regardless of the accuracy of Kawaii's scientific hypothesizing, he was quite correct in his assertion that this other monster was responsible for the killings and destruction that was blamed on Frankenstein. Though the scientific community at large dismissed Kawaii's assertions, the three Drs. believed him, and attempt to search for Frankenstein on foot in order to save him. Upon locating his cave, however, Bowen and Togami discover that Kawaji didn't have benign intentions, but was instead hoping to insure that the giant was killed by the J.S.D.F. by blinding him with chemical bombs; he was ultimately hoping to get his hands on the giant's heart and brain for further scientific study once the military killed the creature. However, while setting off one of the bombs for the purpose of a demonstration, Kawaji inadvertantly attracted Baragon's attention, and Bowen and Kawaji prove unable to drive the ravaging dinosaur mutation off with the remainder of the bombs.

Attempting to flee, Dr. Togami falls and is nearly killed by Baragon until Frankenstein arrives and allowed the three humans to escape by attacking the underground kaiju. Despite Baragon's use of his oral heat beam and great leaping and digging abilities against his opponent, Frankenstein's natural cunning and great strength proves more than capable of fighting the dinosaurian beast to a standstill. In fact, at one point when Dr. Kawaji was knocked unconscious by falling rocks during the course of the monsters' battle, Frankenstein saves his life by picking up the scientist and delivering him into the hands of his friends Bowen and Togami.

When Baragon soon threatens a nearby village, Frankenstein once again engages him in a fierce and lenghty battle to provide time for the village to be evacuated. Finally, using every iota of his formidable might, Frankenstein manages to defeat Baragon and render him insensate by breaking the beast's neck.

What occurred next, however, was obfuscated in the American press when they gave a conflicting report due to an inept journalist who first picked up the story from the international news wires. According to the American press, immediately following his victory over Baragon, Frankenstein and his opponent's unconscious body were swallowed by a mysterious earthquake that suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and this story was even reported in many Japanese media outlets at the time due to the incorrect information spread by a few less than competent journalists.

In actuality, the ending of this incident was considerably more dramatic. Immediately upon defeating Baragon, Frankenstein tossed the beast's unconscious body away, only to suddenly be attacked by a giant octopus who slithered onto the land from a nearby body of salt water for unknown reasons this octopus was a member of a gigantic and extremely aggressive species of cephalopod who are also likely descended from a species artificially created via advanced genetic engineering techniques by Muan scientists thousands of years ago, probably intended as a form of aquatic bio-weapon against the Atlantean warlords whom they struggled against for dominance of the world. These daidaiko bred much more successfully than the many giant dinosaur survivors and sea serpents who hailed from the same ancient source, and appears to have become a species unto themselves, despite their unnatural origin. Determined to continue protecting his human friends, Frankenstein battled the octopus and drove it back into the water source from which it emerged, only to be pulled into the water and drowned by the octopus, thus ending his brief and turmoil-filled life.

Following the demise of the gigantic Frankenstein Monster, Baragon's body was scheduled to be removed to a scientific installation by the Japanese government for vivisection and study into the workings of dinosaur mutation physiology. In order to keep the 20 meter kaiju's corpse from beginning to decay before the expensive resources needed to move it were brought to the area it wasn't known that the creature yet lived, a huge covering of dirt was poured over the beast's body by numerous government helicopters and other vehicles.

A week later, however, an earthquake did indeed hit the Mt. Fuji area, and Baragon's insensate body was swallowed deep into the Earth, where the kaiju went into a form of deep suspended animation as his nuclear-charged body slowly healed from the very serious injuries he suffered in battle with Frankenstein when the story hit the American press, the incompetent journalists who covered the story incorrectly reported that the earthquake occurred just after Baragon's neck was broken, and that Frankenstein was swallowed up into the Earth along with the subterranean monster. Despite the loss of a genuine dai kaiju specimen, the Japanese government was nevertheless pleased that an act of nature got rid of the problem of the corpse for them, and it would be well over a decade before Baragon would appear on the surface of the Earth again.

Towards the end of this year, following the above mentioned incident, the J.S.D.F. asked for U.N. approval to re-develop the Markelite technology initially developed by the Earth Defense Force for use against the Mysterian invasion eight years earlier, this time for the purpose of using the powerful technology as a military countermeasure against the various dai kaiju ("giant monsters") that were threatening Japan on a seemingly regular basis, and the request was approved, provided the Markelite technology was used only for countering attacks by giant monsters.

Thus, the specialized weapons known as maser tanks were developed by Japanese technology and munitions firms for exclusive use against the threat of giant monster attacks.

Soon after Frankenstein's demise, the extraordinary regenerative properties in the remains of his amputated hand, stored in a special protein fluid by Dr. Kawaji, were stimulated by radioactive emissions in an experiment, and it was discovered that the flesh was beginning to grow into an entirely new male humanoid life form with similar DNA to that of Frankenstein, culminating in the development of a small humanoid creature covered in brown fur about the size of a human infant, but quickly growing to the size of a human child that was peaceful in disposition and, like his genetic forebear, was of impaired human level intelligence though quite cunning, and mute.

The small creature was transferred to another scientific research institute in Osaka, and the creature was placed under the care and study of American scientist Dr. Paul Stewart and his kindly assistant Akemi, who named the little creature Sanda. The little hominid became quite friendly and affectionate towards the people at the research facility, particularly Akemi, but within two weeks the creature somehow escaped, and despite a thorough search, little Sanda was nowhere to be found. It turned out, however, that the little creature hid in the mountainous areas outside of the city, where his mutant DNA caused him to continue to grow until he reached enormous size, even greater than that of his genetic "parent," maxing out at a height of 35 meters. Sanda looked considerably less human than Frankenstein did, including the presence of his full body pelt of hair, his grotesque Neanderthal-like facial features, and mottled dark skin; his less human appearance and greater size and strength may have been the result of further mutations that resulted from the radioactive stimulus of the small chunk of flesh removed from Frankenstein's severed hand.

During Sanda's escape, however, the creature evidently tore a chunk of his own flesh out of his foot when he accidentally stepped on a jagged rock while running through a body of water. This resulted in that chunk of flesh also growing into a semi-humanoid giant nearly as large as his "brother," maxing at 30 meters in height, but this second genetic progeny of Frankenstein, who would later be named Gaila was adapted for spending much of his time in the sea due to the severed chunk of flesh developing in an aquatic environment. As such, he was covered with greenish hair and skin, and had even more hideous facial features and mottled skin than his brother.

Unlike the gentle Sanda, however, Gaila was extremely aggressive and brutally vicious, and would eat any smaller creature that he came in contact with for sustenance, including human beings. Both Sanda and Gaila, ignorant of each others' existence, would grow to gigantic size over the course of several months.

Godzilla Time Line. Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeWed Nov 18, 2009 9:38 am

1966

Early in this year, the adult Mothra entered one of her periodic extended catatonic states in order to conserve her energy to enable her to create another egg once her latest adult incarnation approached the end of her natural life cycle.

At roughly the same time, the Red Bamboo came close to their designated timetable for creating atomic weapons on their hidden base on Letchi Island. However, in order to meet the timetable, they needed to dramatically increase their labor force. To accomplish this task, they opted to kidnap large numbers of natives from the nearby Infant Island, something the heavily armed men could accomplish with ease, since Mothra was now comatose. Moving swiftly, before the Shobijan could perform the ritual to awaken Mothra from her comatose state early, several Red Bamboo soldiers descended upon Infant Island and took several of the natives captive, to utilize as slave labor on Letchi Island.

This situation continued for over a month, and due to the large involuntary increase in their labor force, the Red Bamboo managed to complete one atomic bomb; they also forced the captive Infant Islanders to make large quantities of the juice from a fruit native to Letchi Island that repelled Ebirah, the supplies of which the Red Bamboo soldiers strictly guarded. Though the Infant Islanders plotted more than one escape, whenever they succeeded in boarding a small boat to leave Letchi Island, they were quickly attacked and devoured by the giant mutant lobster, who always prowled the watery depths of the atoll's vicinity.

Meanwhile, a small group of men led by a sailor named Rota arrived on Letchi Island from Japan, to search for the latter's brother Yata, who was lost a short time earlier during a storm at sea. Managing to bypass Ebirah and arrive on the island, they quickly run afoul of the Red Bamboo soldiers, and joined up with an escaped female slave from Infant Island named Daiyo, where they were forced to play a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the soldiers on the island. One of Rota's cohorts, Yashi, is captured by the Red Bamboo and forced into slave labor himself, though he is soon able to escape by stealing a large air balloon and floating off to the nearby Infant Island. There, he discovers that Rota's brother Yata is alive and well on that island, and as the Shobijan and other natives there work towards awakening the still slumbering Mothra, Yashi and Yata elect to return to Letchi Island to assist Rota's group and the captive Infant Island natives from escaping the Red Bamboo.

While stumbling into a large cavern in the side of a mountain in order to hide from the Red Bamboo, Rota and company discover that unbeknowest to anyone else, Godzilla is present on the island and slumbering within the bottom of the huge cavern [presumably, he entered unseen thanks to an underwater cave that led to that cavern]. Hoping to wake Godzilla in order to create a major complication for the Red Bamboo and Ebirah, Rota's troupe set up a makeshift lightening rod during a storm atop the cavern, and the electrical energy that was attracted to the rod succeeds in awakening Godzilla. Leaving the cavern in an irate state of mind, the Kaiju King promptly approaches Ebirah, who surfaces from the water near the island shore, and after a brief battle, Godzilla drives the monster lobster from the vicinity.

The following day, Godzilla is attacked by another spawn of the Red Bamboo's radioactive dumpage who is present on the island, a giant condor, though the avian kaiju is quickly dispatched by a burst of the Atomic Titan's atomic breath this giant condor is likely descended from avians who were likewise the result of Muan genetic engineering thousands of years ago as aerial bio-weapons, who mutated into an even larger creature after exposure to the Red Bamboo's atomic waste rather then simply dying due to its artificially enhanced genetic structure.

Soon afterwards, as Rota's party had hoped, Godzilla stumbles upon the Red Bamboo's military base, and the organization launches an attack on the reptilian kaiju, who easily crushes the montage of assault weaponry they attack him with, including several fighter jets.

Meanwhile, while returning to Letchi Island, Yata and Yashi sneak back into the Infant Island slave labor populace, and instruct them to make the juice that the Red Bamboo use to repel Ebirah only from the leaves of the fruit, and not the fruit itself; as a result, the juice they create from that point on will be ineffective in driving the sea monster away. Consequently, once Godzilla proves too much for the military might of the Red Bamboo, the commanders of the organization order all of their personnel to board their ships and flee the island, and also to activate the self-destruct sequence on their one atomic weapon to annhilate the atoll, along with all living creatures on it, including the slave laborers, Rota and his party, and Godzilla himself.

Once they board their ships and flee the island, however, the entire Red Bamboo contingent discover that the bogus juice made by their slaves is insufficient to repel Ebirah, and the monster crustacean swiftly attacks the ships and destroys them. Immediately following this, Godzilla engages Ebirah in battle once more, ultimately tearing off both of the monster lobster's pincers; humbled and injured, the dangerous sea beast quickly swims away.

Just after Ebirah's defeat, the awakened Mothra arrives on Letchi Island to rescue the Infant Island natives who are trapped there only to discover that Godzilla did all of the hard work for her, such as defeating both the Red Bamboo and Ebirah. Remembering the adult Mothra as a previous foe, Godzilla attacks her, but the giant lepidopteran evades his blast of atomic breath and topples him long enough for her to snatch up the large cart remaining from the balloon that is holding all of the Infant Islanders and Rota's party to spirit them off of the island. As Mothra flies away from Letchi Island towards Infant Island, Rota and his troupe are happy to see that Godzilla likewise managed to escape the doomed atoll just before the atomic weapon went off and destroyed the entire land mass.

Later that year, having finally reached his full gigantic size, Gaila made his first assault upon human beings. When a fishing ship was attacked during the late hours of the evening by a daidako, Gaila appeared and battled the giant cephalopod, defeating it in short measure, as the octopus threatened to devour the humans whom the giant wanted for himself as a meal. All of the crewmen jumped off the ship and attempted to swim back to shore, only to be quickly caught and devoured by the monstrous jade giant, save for one. Hospitalized, the sole survivor of the ill-fated ship reported the existence of the giant green humanoid to the authorities.

Hearing this report, Dr. Paul Stewart and his assistant Akemi traveled to speak to the man, as they both feared that the deadly human-eating giant humanoid may be little Sanda who grew to giant size much like his genetic forbear did, but had inexplicably turned nasty since Sanda and Gaila's connection to the giant Frankenstein Monster was kept hidden from the American press as per Dr. Kawaji's previous request in return for transporting the creature to them for study, as the Japanese government didn't want the fact that they acquired the heart of the original Frankenstein Monster to become public knowledge at all. When later interviewed, Dr. Stewart simply told the American press a white lie by saying that the two giant Frankenstein Brothers were likely more examples of giant atomic mutations that had appeared in large numbers over the past decade, and refused to mention the word "Frankenstein" to the press, simply referring to the monstrous brothers as "Gargantuas," a name that the American media utilized when making reference to Sanda and/or Gaila; in fact, the American press never bothered to record the names "Sanda" or "Gaila" in their press releases regarding the two humanoid kaiju at all, instead simply referring to them as the "Brown Gargantua" and the "Green Gargantua," respectively.

Gaila continued to make destructive forays in Japan, beginning with one at Haneda Airport, in his search for human prey. The huge green giant was finally cornered by the J.S.D.F. while he rampaged through a wooded area, and was mercilessly attacked by the maser weaponry newly developed by Japan for use against dai kaiju threats. Unlike the non-humanoid giant monsters, Gaila seemed to be much less resilient to attack despite his great regenerative capacity, and he suffered serious injury under the assault. However, much to the surprise of the J.S.D.F., the now gigantic Sanda soon appeared, having witnessed the military attack on another being like himself, and somehow surmising that this other giant was his "brother," he peacefully helped Gaila back to his lair in the mountains. Dr. Stewart and Akemi then realized that the brown giant was Sanda, who was not responsible for the destructive rampages of the past few weeks after all, much to their relief.

Nevertheless, Sanda soon discovered that his brother was feeding upon human beings, after which he turned on him. However, because Sanda's leg was fractured by an enormous boulder during a landslide on his mountain home, Gaila easily knocked him aside and, having healed from his wounds, resumed his assault on human civilization. Despite his leg wound, Sanda followed Gaila into the city of Osaka and opposed his rampage, particularly since he was threatening the safety of his human friends, who traveled there upon hearing that one of the Frankenstein Brothers a.k.a., Gargantuas was sighted there, thinking it may be Sanda.

A ferocious battle ensued, with Gaila initially getting the upper hand despite Sanda's greater strength, partly because of the latter's bum leg, and partly because Gaila was far more aggressive. Nevertheless, Sanda managed to lead his brutish brother away from the city and into the water, where their titanic struggle continued until they had the misfortune of taking their battle near an erupting volcano. The spewing lava evidently ended up consuming both of the gargantuan brothers, thus ending the threat of Gaila thanks to the sacrifice of Sanda.

Godzilla Time Line. Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeSun Dec 27, 2009 6:23 am

1967

A team of scientists lead by a meteorologist named Dr. Kusami arrive on a small uncharted atoll in the South Seas known as Solgell Island, with the fiscal backing of the Japanese government to set up a small science base there. Their purpose is to test a revolutionary weather control experiment that is designed to hopefully alter inhospitable environments across the planet so as to make them suitable for human habitation.

Soon after setting up base, the small science team is met by a journalist named Akira Kubo, who used his connections in the media to learn of this experiment, and he parachuted onto the island from a hastily hired small private plane to get the "full scoop" on the going-ons there. Though Dr. Kusami's team wasn't happy at this intrusion, as they were instructed to keep the experiments quiet until they actually yielded a positive result, the team had little choice but to accommodate the inquisitive reporter.

Before the experiments began, however, the first sign of bad news occurred when the team was confronted in the evening by a creature resembling a huge praying mantis, over 2 meters in length. The enormous and improbable insect was driven from the base with gunfire.

Presumably, this giant mantis may have been one of the few surviving members of genetically modified insects who were created via advanced genetic engineering techniques by the Muan/Lemurian civilization many millennia earlier, likely for use as bio-weapons. However, since insects and arachnids proved extremely difficult to increase in size to a considerable extent due to many physiological reasons, Muan scientists later abandoned such plans in favor of creating colossal creatures with endodermic skeletons who nevertheless possessed various exterior insect or arachnid attributes.

Nevertheless, many of these initial insects and arachnids remained genetically modified, as the giant mantises who appeared on Solgell Island were bright red in color, rather than the typical green of a normal mantis, implying that they were members of an entirely different species who likely attained their great (though not incredibly huge) size as a result of their extensive genetic modifications, which was designed to allow such insects and arachnids to achieve an internal structure similar to creatures with endothermic skeletons whilst retaining much of their insect attributes on the exterior of their bodies. The radiation from the many atomic bomb tests conducted by the U.S. government in the Pacific Ocean (where the Muan continent once stood before its destruction over 10,000 years ago) may very well have acted to jump-start further evolution in these artificially created creatures.

A day after the above incident, the weather-altering test went on as scheduled. The technological apparatus designed to alter the weather around the atoll's immediate area, which included the spraying of silver iodide in the lower atmosphere, was interrupted by strange radioactive energy emanations that originated from a certain point on the island. This resulted in the apparatus causing a severe storm, and the temperature of the atoll escalated to nearly 200 degrees F, followed by a rain storm with boiling hot precipitation. After the lethal weather extremes had subsided, the team discovered, much to their horror, that all three genetically-altered giant mantises dwelling on the island had increased in height to a vast degree as a result of the extreme energy emissions of the weather-altering machine having somehow jump-started their evolutionary growth even further [apparently, highly cellular penetrating radiation is not the only form of energy that can adversely affect these creatures in such a manner].

The giant quasi-insects now stood over 30 meters in length, and Kubo named them 'Kamakiras' the American press reports of this incident semi-whimsically referred to the giant mantids as 'Gimantises,' an amalgamation of the words "giant" and "mantises".

Presumably, the Kamakiras possessed an endothermal skeletal structure and reptilian breathing apparatus with an outer chitinous covering and other familiarly insect-like features. As noted above, it's possible that these genetically altered insects may not have been true insects at all, and actually merely superficially resembled mantids with their outer body structure, but were very dissimilar to real insects in terms of their internal organs and other biological constituents.

The trio of Kamakiras were attracted to the mysterious energy emanations of a large rocky mound that first interfered with the weather experiment.

The three giant quasi-insects dug up a huge egg, and upon cracking it open, a small dinosaur mutation of apparently the same mutant "species" as Godzilla was hatched (evidently the egg of a genetically altered dinosaur laying in suspended animation that was mutated by the atomic radiation released by previous atomic bomb tests). This infant dinosaur mutation was later named 'Minya' [though the various Japanese press outlets that reported the story called the small creature variant names, such as "Minilla" and "Minira"; most of the American press outlets who reported this story didn't refer to the baby dinosaur mutation by any name, simply referring to him as a "baby Godzilla" or "Godzilla's son," though one American newspaper at the time whimsically referred to the young creature as "Tadzilla".

As the three Kamakiras moved in to consume the new-born Minya, the energy emanations [probably both psychic and electromagnetic] previously released by the infant kaiju, particularly after he was forcibly hatched, quickly attracted Godzilla to the island. Godzilla engaged the three Kamakiras in battle before they could devour the much smaller creature, and the entire insect-like trio was no match for the Kaiju King. Two of the giant quasi-insects were killed in the battle, immolated by Godzilla's atomic breath, and the third was driven off. Feeling some sort of surrogate parental bond to the baby kaiju due to their psychic rapport, Godzilla became Minya's protector, and allowed the creature to accompany him to his lair elsewhere on the atoll. In fact, Godzilla would later attempt to teach Minya to develop his own latent ability to project a burst of atomic radiation from his maw.

Ordinarily, the young dinosaur mutation's underdeveloped internal nuclear furnace could only project rings of nearly harmless luminescent energy, but if the creature was sufficiently startled or his tail was stepped upon hard enough, he could exhale a full beam of atomic radiation from his internal furnace, smaller but similar to that of Godzilla's.

It's quite possible that Minya was not the same type of mutant 'species' as Godzilla after all; other dinosaur mutations who hatched from eggs, such as Rodan, grew to their full height within weeks of their hatching; upon his own forced hatching, Minya quickly grew from 12 to 18 meters, but by 1999, he was still the same height as he was within days after his initial hatching. It can thereby be surmised that the small kaiju may have, in fact, reached the pinnacle of his height and growth soon after the aforementioned hatching, and wasn't truly genetically related to Godzilla after all.

The scientific team then discovered a lone woman living on the island named Reiko [as her name was reported in the American press version of this story; the Japanese press referred to her as "Seiko"], who was previously seen by Kubo, but whom the rest of the team had disbelieved. It turned out that Reiko's late father, a scientist, made the uninhabited Solgell Island his home 20 years earlier in order to study the conditions there, which he understood were likely to have been affected by the influx of atomic radiation in that area following the many U.S. nuclear tests earlier in the '40's. He raised Reiko there alone, and when her father died a short time before the scientific team's arrival, the young woman fended for herself, as she had no way to leave the island.

Among her father's discoveries (which he wrote about in an extensive private journal) was an unusual form of bacteria that caused serious illness in human beings whose bodies it invaded (which afflicted the scientific team at one point), and the only cure was to be found in the waters of a certain lagoon that was reddish in color, due to the presence of a certain type of peat that somehow counteracted the deleterious effects of the mutant bacteria on humans.

Further, the island was home to yet another fearsome descendant of Muan genetic engineering, a creature that resembled a gigantic, 60 meter long spider [her father named the giant quasi-spider 'Kumonga,' but the American press reported it as 'Spiega'; once again, it was likely that Spiega wasn't truly a real giant spider, but merely a gigantic creature with an endodermic skeletal structure and reptilian breathing apparatus that simply possessed an outer structure highly reminiscent of a spider due to extensive genetic modification and further evolution via massive atomic radiation exposure. Though Spiega possessed eight legs and some form of chitinous exo-shell over his skin, he had two large functional non-multifaceted as opposed to the numerous fully functional eyes that real spiders possess, and though he had a very formidable silk shooter similar to that of Mothra in larva form (as do real spiders), the arachnoid kaiju fired his silk from special glands sequestered within his jaws (rather than his posterior region, as in a normal spider).

Spiega also boasted a retractable poison spike from within his jaws, something not possessed by normal spiders (who expell venom from their fangs directly). Although Spiega's (apparent) endoskeletal structure enabled him to move about freely and with relative ease (something a normal animal with an exoskeleton would be unable to do at such a huge size), Spiega's bulk and chitinous outer shell was heavy enough that he was unable to move with great speed, or leap about, as normal spiders of very small size can do; the Kamakiras faced similar limitations in their movement speed relative to that of normal insects of small size, though unlike real mantids, they possessed functional wings on their backs that enabled them to take off for short flights, albeit at very low altitudes.]

Spiega entrapped Reiko and the scientific team in a small cavern with his webbing, though they later managed to burn their way free with a simple cigarette lighter, as the webbing was vulnerable to extreme heat. Eventually, however, Spiega ran afoul of the sole surviving Kamakiras and Minya, trapping both of them in his powerful webbing. Though the giant quasi-spider managed to inject the Kamakiras with the coma-inducing poison from his jaw spike, before he could subject Minya to a similar fate, the young kaiju called his surrogate father to the rescue.

As Godzilla and Minya together engaged in a great battle with Spiega, the scientific team, along with Kubo and Reiko, activated the weather-manipulating apparatus back at their base in an attempt to lower the temperature around Solgell Island to the extent that the dangerous kaiju inhabiting the atoll would be rendered insensate, allowing them to escape on an emergency boat they had.

This time, without the energy interference that impeded the apparatus during the previous experiment, Dr. Kusami's team succeeded in rapidly lowering the temperature around Solgell Island's immediate environs so as to successfully cause a severe blizzard. With Spiega's movements growing more sluggish due to the sudden frigid conditions surrounding the normally sub-tropical island, Godzilla and Minya succeeded in defeating the gargantuan quasi-spider.

As Dr. Kusami's team successfully left the island, the now more sentient than ever Godzilla locked himself in a warm embrace with his surrogate son Minya as the two of them went into a state of temporary suspended animation.

Less than two months after the above events, the international press and scientific community receives word that King Kong is now living on a South Seas atoll known as Mondo Island, which has evidently been visited by small expeditions in the past. It's thus known that Mondo Island is one of a certain small number of atolls located in the South Pacific Ocean that is inhabited by descendants of the extra-large dinosaurs and other unusual giant animals created over 10,000 years ago by Muan genetic engineers (though the origins of these surviving dinosaurs are not known to the general public, or even the world governments, despite numerous articles in magazines and journals covering the paranormal).

However, for some reason possibly connected to the effects of a certain soma berry indigenous to some of these islands upon animals genetically engineered by ancient Muan science, many of the dinosaurs and other unusual animals on Mondo Island were considerably larger than even the plus-sized dinosaurs, apes, sea snakes, avians, etc., that were created by the Muans. In fact, the size, intelligence, and physical strength of several of the dinosaurs and other animals to be found on these islands (including King Kong himself) often rivaled that of the various dinosaur mutations of the 20th century who were the result of several of these ultra-dinosaurs being exposed to heavy amounts of atomic radiation, though these creatures lacked the nuclear-based special powers possessed by several of these dinosaur mutations (such as Godzilla's atomic breath and Baragon's oral heat beam; King Kong's unique ability to absorb electricity was probably due to a genetic fluke resulting from genetic modification on his ancestors by Muan scientists many millennia past to enable them to turn the Atlanteans' electrically based weaponry to their advantage.

Unlike the similar Farou Island, where Kong previously resided, Mondo Island was believed to be unpopulated, though the expedition would discover that a lone elderly native was living there [he may have been the sole surviving member of a small group of natives from Farou Island who migrated to Mondo Island].

The expedition to Mondo Island was international in focus, and the U.N. submarine was led by Captain Carl Nelson, and one of the other prominent members of the crew was a nurse named Susan Watson.

Upon arriving on the island, Susan soon encountered a 50 meter tall Allosaur who was later named 'Gorosaurus.' Reacting in a fairly hostile manner to the human who suddenly intruded into his territory, Gorosaurus horrified Susan, and her screams quickly awakened Kong, who was slumbering in a nearby cave. Swiftly drawn the area by the latter screaming, Kong was immediately smitten by Susan, and the colossal primate thus resolved to defend her from the towering saurian before her, and a savage battle between the two dai kaiju ensued. Gorosaurus proved a very formidable adversary for Kong, though ultimately the powerful giant ape defeated the enormous dinosaur by breaking his jaw, and leaving him unconscious.

During the melee between Kong and Gorosaurus, Nelson led Susan and the rest of his crew back to the submarine to quickly flee the island.

However, upon boarding the sub and trying to leave the atoll, a gigantic white sea snake appeared and attacked the vessel, who it likewise may have considered an intruder into its territory. Leaving the now defeated Gorosaurus behind him, Kong quickly charged to Susan's rescue yet again, and after engaging the giant sea snake in battle, the giant simian quickly defeated the serpentine kaiju. After Kong grasped Susan in his hand again, the young woman soon realized that the titanic primate meant her no harm, and appealing to Kong's strong emotional sensibilities, she enticed him to allow her to return to the sub, which he did, albeit sadly.

More problems reared their head, however, in the face of the extremely ruthless criminal mastermind called Dr. Huu .

Dr. Huu's large group of personnel who served him had constructed a massive base in the Arctic, and he was then in the employ of a mysterious female agent of an unidentified Asian nation who identified herself simply as 'Ms. Piranha.'

Her government was willing to pay Dr. Huu a huge sum of money in exchange for mining a very rare but extremely valuable radioactive isotope that was discovered by her nation to exist in the Arctic, near Dr. Huu's base. After studying the real King Kong for several months, Dr. Huu had technologists who worked for him construct a powerful giant robotic duplicate of Kong whom he called 'Mechani-Kong' based upon his own schematic designs [the automaton was referred to simply as "Robot Kong" by the American press].

Due to his possession of the robot, Dr. Huu took the contract from Ms. Piranaha, as he knew Mechani-Kong would be strong enough to dig for the isotope her government desired. However, after digging quite extensively, the robot's internal mechanisms were severely disrupted by the isotope's energy emissions. As such, Dr. Huu decided that the best way to accomplish his objective was to capture the real Kong, whose organic body would not be affected in such a manner, and to use the former's great skill at hypnosis, augmented by sophisticated technological means to force Kong to operate as his minion towards this endeavor.

Dr. Huu thus led a group of his own helicopters to Mondo Island, where he quickly captured Kong by dropping numerous bombs containing noxious sleeping gas around the giant ape. Dr. Huu did indeed successfully hypnotize Kong via certain synchronized light waves from a device he had perfected to dig for the isotope, though Kong proved difficult to control.

Immediately following Kong's capture, Dr. Huu ordered his men to further explore Mondo Island, to see if there was anything else of value to be found there. Upon doing so, they discovered the injured body of Gorosaurus laying insensate.

Believing that the enormous carnosaur may prove useful to them as a bio-weapon, Dr. Huu ordered the huge animal to likewise be returned to his Arctic base. While being held at the aforementioned installation, Gorosaurus's broken jaw and other injuries from his ill-fated encounter with Kong were tended to, and over the course of a month, the mega-dinosaur completely healed.

Within days, Dr. Huu's machinations caused him to run afoul of Capt. Nelson and his crew, who nearly lost their lives while dealing with the brutal criminal genius and his forces, when Dr. Huu had Susan kidnapped to force Kong's further complicity.

Nevertheless, Capt. Nelson, Susan, and his other crewmembers managed to escape, and they likewise freed Kong from Dr. Huu's clutches.

The King of the Apes followed Susan to Tokyo, where he clashed with the repaired Mechani-Kong, who was sent there by Dr. Huu on a mission to retrieve the giant ape. However, the robot's hypno-device mounted on its head unit was shot and smashed by a soldier from the J.S.D.F., thus freeing Kong from Dr. Huu's further control. The giant ape then engaged his mechanized counterpart in battle, but found himself unable to defeat the incredibly strong simian robot.

When Dr. Huu ordered Mechani-Kong to abduct Susan and climb atop a large skyscraper, the angry Kong pursued the construct vehemently. However, the death knell for the robot was excecuted by Ms. Piranha, who grew disgusted with Dr. Huu's incessantly violent and disreputable behavior, and she sabotaged the robot's control mechanisms at the cost of her own life (she was shot to death by Dr. Huu after performing the act of sabotage).

With its control mechanisms thus disengaged, the giant automaton fell from over a hundred stories high, and was smashed to pieces upon striking the ground.

Early the next day, Kong located and savagely attacked Dr. Huu's loudly colored ship that was sitting just outside Japan's territorial waters, destroying the vessel in the process. In the course of the attack, Kong apparently delivered a bloody death to Dr. Huu [though it's unknown if the implacable villain truly met his demise; his injuries did appear to be quite severe, however, and he certainly wouldn't have been able to leave his ship before it sunk; then again, other criminal masterminds have routinely escaped from worse predicaments].

Upon administering the final blow against his human adversary and the latter's crew, Kong began his long swim back to Mondo Island.

Upon Dr. Huu's abandoned base in the Arctic being raided by U.N. forces and all of his special technology confiscated a few days later, the still healing body of Gorosaurus was discovered within. The enormous carnosaur's entrapment there was retained and enforced by the U.N. team, pending a decision now being formulated by the U.N. Security Council at Japan's behest regarding a means of attempting to contain all dai kaiju in the world in one particular locale.

Godzilla Time Line. Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeSat Jan 02, 2010 8:04 am

1968

The United Nations, mostly upon the request of member nation Japan, launches its elaborate initiative to deposit all the dai kaiju currently known in the world upon one specific uninhabited South Seas atoll. Several scientists suggest it would be relatively easy keeping them there, as some of them, such as the giant quasi-insects and arachnids (such as Kamakiras and Spiega, respectively) would have no reason to ever leave the island, and several flying monsters (such as Rodan) and those capable of swimming long distances (such as Godzilla) appear to have developed a degree of rudimentary sentience allowing them to cease outright attacks upon human civilization on their own volition. This U.N. project was officially named "Operation: Relocation."

Upon investigation, Solgell Island was chosen, as Godzilla was known to favor that island as a land based habitat during the times he was not under the sea, and it was also inhabited by Spiega, the sole surviving Kamakiras, and the Kaiju King's surrogate 'son' Minya, the latter four having just recently been released from suspended animation when the island-wide blizzard artificially induced by Dr. Kusami's scientific crew a year earlier had run its course.

It was later discovered, upon closer examination, that Rodan had likewise chosen Solgell Island as a roost, and was likely present there during the incident involving Dr. Kusami's crew in 1967, though the flying kaiju was evidently in slumber during that time, and was thus never seen or disturbed during the entirety of the incident involving Godzilla and Minya's conflict with Kamakiras and Spiega. The great flying monster had evidently simply slept through the temporary blizzard that shrouded the island in snow and below zero temperatures for about a week, though the island's ecosystem seems to have completely recovered within a year's time.

Since King Kong was now on Mondo Island, and never had any reason to leave that island unless the giant simian was removed by errant human beings who desired to exploit him in their own interests (something that happened twice during the 1960's decade), it was decided that he and the other mega-large dinosaur inhabitants who existed on Mondo Island, Farou Island, and likely a few others could be considered exempt from the imperatives of Operation: Relocation, especially since none of these ultra-large dinosaurs, simians, snakes, etc., were the creation of the human governments' reckless use of atomic radiation. The sole exception to this rule was the 50 meter tall carnosaur known as Gorosaurus, who was found entrapped at Dr. Huu's Arctic base after that installation was "liberated" by U.N. security forces. Since the apparatus utilized to move the dai kaiju was both expensive and difficult to operate, Gorosaurus was simply moved to Solgell Island rather than back to Mondo Island, as the former atoll was geographically closer to Dr. Huu's base, and it was thus considerably easier to transport the massive dinosaur there. Hence, Gorosaurus ended up joining the roster of dai kaiju on Solgell Island, whom he was the equal in terms of size and physical strength, if not sheer mutation-induced peculiarities.

Early in this year, it was discovered that Anguirus had finally fully recovered from the serious injuries he incurred during his battle with Godzilla in Osaka back in 1955, and in fact, during his years-long recuperation process, had mutated further (his physical appearance had changed slightly) and he now possessed the same degree of rudimentary sentience and psychic capacity that Godzilla, Rodan, and other dinosaur mutations had.

As Anguirus began swimming about in the Pacific, looking for solid land to settle, he was spotted by Operation: Relocation helicopters, who were searching the area via sophisticated radar technology for Ebirah. When Anguirus was located and positively identified, the modified military copters used maser-based weaponry to push the spike-backed dai kaiju towards Solgell Island, where it was hoped that he would settle peaceably. The maneuvers were successful, and Anguirus soon arrived on the intended atoll. Upon doing so, his now greater level of intelligence and capacity for crude psychic communication between the other kaiju residing there enabled him to put his savage territorial nature aside, and to settle into a peaceful co-existence with his fellow kaiju who shared the island's ecosystem, including his former territorial foe, Godzilla. In fact, Godzilla and Anguirus were so successful in their level of mutual psychic communication with each other, that they actually soon became staunch allies, and in the future they would form the equivalent of a "friendship." This would develop fully over the next few years, where they would deliberately oppose any hostile kaiju who threatened human civilization, as they would now consider the human race not an obstacle to crush in the course of their survival, but rather as fellow denizens of their world who they were dedicated to protecting from various dangers that would appear, much as a sheepdog will protect the sheep in their midst from any and all threats.

As the military was aware that the sea-going mega-crustacean Ebirah preferred to spend his time in close proximity to an island (it was previously the now destroyed Letchi Island), just as normal crustaceans do, the mutant lobster was located shortly after Anguirus, and was likewise corralled towards settling near Solgell Island, to keep the dangerous creature away from human-settled islands Ebirah had by now grown back his lost pincers, which his radioactively enhanced metabolism allowed him to do.

Soon after Ebirah was successfully maneuvered to the waters around Solgell Island, a submarine controlled by an Operation: Relocation crew located the still hibernating body of Manda, laying underneath the Pacific after being forced into a state of cryonic suspension a few years earlier by Atragon's Zero Cannon. The monstrous amphibious sea serpent was also dragged over to Solgell Island, where he soon revived. As the U.N. scientists involved in the operation had predicted, Manda was content to remain on this island, as he was now freed from being a living bio-weapon to the Muans who survived into the 20th century, but whose nation was destroyed five years earlier when they waged war against the surface world's nation-states.

The biggest hurdle the operatives of the monster round-up crew faced, however, was how to get Mothra to leave her traditional Infant Island and relocate to Solgell Island. In fact, Mothra was perhaps the only dai kaiju who was actually considered a bona fide hero at that point in time by the human civilizations across the globe, and she was, in fact, instrumental in securing Godzilla and Rodan's assistance in repelling King Ghidorah's attack on Japan during December of 1964, as well as ending the former two monsters' hostility against the human race. Nevertheless, it was believed that Mothra should not be exempt from Operation: Relocation, as it was concluded by a majority of the U.N. Security Council that all dai kaiju, particularly a swimming and/or flying creature like Mothra, could be inherently unpredictable, and thus needed to be accountable to the human governments. However, it was decided to accomplish this objective in a peaceful and tactful manner, out of respect for the past contributions to human society by the Shobijan and Mothra herself.

A small U.N. task force was sent to Infant Island to consult with the Shobijan and the other natives living there. Their concerns and intent was mentioned in an honest fashion, and it was suggested that Mothra's presence on Solgell Island could actually be a moderating influence on the other monsters living there, as she was the only dai kaiju of Earth who could easily communicate psychically with the others, and was by far the most powerful esper among them. She could see to it that the other monsters remained as docile as possible towards the human race, and to even incite them into defending the Earth should another menace akin to King Ghidorah rear its head.

The Shobijan reluctantly agreed with the U.N.'s request, and would telepathically ask Mothra to permenantly relocate to Solgell Island, but on the condition that the U.N. would guarantee that Infant Island would be left alone and defended by U.N. security forces as requested or needed, and that Mothra would never be threatened by human civilization in any way. The U.N. readily agreed to these conditions. Further, the Shobijan realized that they would eventually die themselves, and since they were a fluke of nature, they could not be succeeded by any of the other natives on Infant Island. Hence, Mothra would have to find her own way in the world in time, without the priestesses to guide her, and looking after the other dangerous monsters that inhabited the world may be the best way for her to fulfill her obligation to the spirit of Mother Earth as the planet's official protector.

By this time, Mothra's latest adult incarnation had expired, and she had been reborn in her larval form. After all of the above was communicated to her telepathically by the Shobijan, Mothra willingly left Infant Island for good and headed for Solgell Island, which would be her new home among her fellow monsters.

At this point in time, Baragon and Varan were believed to be dead and had not yet resurfaced.

When Operation: Relocation was successfully completed, Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Anguirus, Manda, Gorosaurus, Minya, Spiega, the sole surviving Kamakiras, and Ebirah were now residents of this island (though in the case of Ebirah, the monster lobster actually inhabited the sea just off the coast of the atoll). When the world press was notified of the completion of this interesting U.N. military operation, the media officially renamed Solgell Island as "Monster Island," and would refer to it by that name from then on Monster Island was considered particularly intriguing to the youth of the world, who now started official fan clubs relating to the atoll and its inhabitants, as the human race no longer feared them as they had during prior years.

Godzilla Time Line. Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeFri Jan 29, 2010 8:46 am

1969

During this year, a tween boy named Ichiro, a native of Kawasaki, Japan, was greatly depressed over the fact that his parents, both of whom worked, were often inadvertently neglectful of him. Moreover, he was constantly picked on and ostracized by a school bully named Gabara, along with the latter's cronies. As an escape, he retreated into his fantasies about the recently established Monster Island, which he found extremely fascinating. He greatly admired Godzilla, whose extreme power appeared as a liberating concept to a boy who felt so overwhelmed and powerless in the world that he lived in, as well as having a great admiration for Minya, whom he identified with as a fellow "youth" who was struggling to survive within an ecosystem that contained so many creatures that were considerably larger and more powerful than he was.

In order to pass the long hours of the day after returning home from school, a time when both of his parents were working, he befriended a neighbor in his building who was a friendly but highly eccentric inventor. The man built a radio-sized device that he said could send a person's consciousness "anywhere" it wanted to go presumably, this device somehow picked up on psions, the theoretical subatomic particles that are generated by the pineal gland in the brains of living beings that are responsible for psychic abilities, including "out of body experiences," or OBE's; it remains a mystery how this man managed to create such a device, assuming that it actually worked and Ichiro wasn't simply daydreaming; this scientist may have been a current or former government employee, and the technology he got his hands on may have been acquired from the alien technology left over from the Mysterian or Xian invasion. Generously loaning the use of the device to Ichiro, the boy activated the machine, and he promptly fell into a trance-like state, where his astral body was evidently freed from his physical body. Since the boy concentrated so heavily on Monster Island, his mind immediately conjured forth a conceptual airplane with no other passengers on board, or even a pilot to enable him to "fly" to the desired atoll, as this was how his mind conceived of the concept of "travel" via his normal existence on the material plane.

Soon after wards, Ichiro apparently successfully tapped into the psychic facilities of the various dai kaiju living there, and as such he "shared" various astral scenarios with them that appeared entirely realistic to him. His consciousness, however, primarily focused upon Godzilla's activities, and he made full psychic communication with Minya. As a result, Minya was able to appear to him in their mutually created astral domain as being Ichiro's own height (though this mental projection of Minya could will himself to achieve his full 18 meter height at will), and he could also appear to "speak" to Ichiro in his native language though in actuality the communication was entirely telepathic and empathic, with no true "words" being transmitted, despite the fact that Ichiro's consciousness interpreted them as such.

While there, Ichiro tapped into Godzilla's psyche, and relived some of the Kaiju King's recent battles, including his conflicts with Ebirah, the trio of Kamakiras, the daikondura, Spiega, and the assault by the Red Bamboo's military jets. He also witnessed, via psychic means, Godzilla directing one of Minya's training sessions in the use of his still not fully developed atomic breath.

However, since this was a mental realm of existence, largely molded by Ichiro himself, the aspect of his ego that feared the school bully Gabara in real life, and his belief that Minya suffered the same thing in the midst of far larger and more powerful kaiju on Monster Island, caused the boy's id to conjure forth a 'dream' dai kaiju who Minya telepathically also experienced, and due to the latter monster's mental link with Ichiro, also identified as "Gabara" [both Ichiro and Minya appeared entirely unaware that they were psychically linked and functioning in accord during their adventures together, and both acted and reacted as if they were each acting entirely of their own volition]. This creature, which Ichiro's imagination perceived as a reptilian ogre-like beast with electrical generating powers, was an ill-tempered beast who delighted in picking on the weak. However, as Godzilla wanted Minya to learn to fight his own battles, the psychic projection of the young kaiju attempted to fight Gabara the dream kaiju mono-a-mono. He received a humiliating defeat at first, however, due to Gabara's considerably larger size and strength.

Ichiro would periodically leave his trance state and return to his life in the material world, and then "return" to the mental version of Monster Island that his friend's device enabled him to create, an ability he maintained at least temporarily without needing the machine after the first two "travels." During his times of achieving psychic contact with Minya, the two struck up the equivalent of a friendship. Finally, in a second encounter between Minya and the dream kaiju Gabara, the former managed to use his small size (with a bit of prompting from Godzilla) to his advantage by outwitting and toppling the nasty but fairly stupid psychic creature, handing him a bitter defeat. Immediately after this, Gabara made the fatal error of attempting to attack the psychic projection of Godzilla, who promptly thrashed the dream ogre. Thoroughly humbled, Gabara retreated into the psychic underbrush of the mental island construct, an action that represented Ichiro's mental/emotional triumph over his own inner fears and self-doubts.

As a result of this, upon returning to the physical world, Ichiro discovered he was kidnapped and held hostage by two vicious bank robbers who were on the lam from the law. Remembering the lessons he learned from Minya during his psychic journeys to the mental representation of Monster Island, Ichiro gathered his wits and managed to escape and disable both of the bank robbers, who were soon taken into custody by the authorities thanks to the boy's efforts. Upon returning to school, Ichiro then fought the human version of Gabara, and beat him after a nasty fist fight, thereby earning the respect and friendship of the itinerant bully.

Though Ichiro's personal situation with his parents still remained to be resolved (though the two were now more aware of how their son felt about their inadvertent neglect), he had nevertheless used his astral journeys to the psychic representation of Monster Island, and his 'friendship' with Minya, to overcome many of his personal fears and weaknesses, thus leaving him a better and much stronger person for the experience.

Later in his year, three U.N. scientists descend into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean in a bathysphere to study new methods of submarine propulsion, when they are pulled into a dangerous current. They would have been killed had they not been spotted and rescued by the large submarine known as the Alpha [named for the airborne battle vehicle developed by the Earth Defense Force to use against the Mysterians], helmed by Captain Mackenzie and scientist Dr. Ann Barton, who both hail from the great utopian underwater city of Latitude Zero. During this time, however, Dr. Malik was still actively scheming against the city that had spurned him due to his violent and autocratic ways, and he was now in the process of acquiring the means to wage nuclear war upon the world. Towards this end, he kidnaps a brilliant expert on radiation known as Dr. Ikada, who has developed a chemical means of immunizing human beings against the detrimental effects of radiation. With such a formula in his clutches, Dr. Malik would be able to survive easily in the radioactive aftermath of waging nuclear war on the world, and he would also be able to penetrate the radiation shield surrounding Latitude Zero without harm to himself via his advanced submarine called the Black Shark. He would thus be capable of eliminating that city as a possible threat to his machinations, as well as exacting revenge upon them.

The three U.N. scientists resolve to assist Captain Mackenzie and Dr. Barton in opposing Dr. Malik, and in rescuing Dr. Ikada. However, the aged Dr. Malik was well prepared for the impending attack of the Alpha. Using his incredible expertise in genetic engineering, he created dangerous and monstrous foot soldiers via gene splicing by crossing great apes with bats, and by crossing naturally vicious breeds of dogs with rats. The crew of the Alpha, comprised of the scientists from both the U.N. and Latitude Zero, engaged Dr. Malik's forces, facing both his formidable array of technology including laser-oriented weaponry and the many genetically created monsters at his side including the bat-apes and the rat-dogs. Ultimately, Dr. Malik's nuclear arsenal was neutralized, and Dr. Ikada was rescued safely.

Towards the end of the battle, however, Dr. Malik shanghied his chief assistant, a young woman he addressed simply as "Little One." Combining his most advanced gene splicing techniques, along with a powerful chemical growth serum he developed, he spliced a lion with a condor, and caused the resulting winged feline to grow to a length of 30 meters, making it resemble the mythological monster known as the griffin. Transplanting much of the neural matter of "Little One" into the mind of this flying dai kaiju, whom the evil scientist named Kroiga, he hoped to use her loyalty and human-level intelligence to make this monster even more dangerous than it would be if it was totally feral.

However, when Kroiga was released to attack the Alpha, the kaiju's human consciousness was resentful of Dr. Malik's transformation of her into a dai kaiju for his own ends. Hence, her aforementioned resentment, augmented by her mounting rage over the scientist's unyielding megalomania, the flying monster attacked the Black Shark instead of the Alpha, and the former super submarine fought back with its own weaponry. During Kroiga's battle with the Black Shark, the she-creature managed to knock one of the super sub's gun turrets aside. As a result, the shot went astray and hit a nearby mountainside, thus causing an immense avalanche that buried the flying kaiju and the Black Shark alike, apparently killing both Kroiga and Dr. Malik in the process.

Following the revelation of Latitude Zero's existence to the surface world after the return of the three U.N. scientists, the U.N. Security Council was grateful that the city had saved the world from nuclear annihilation, but also resented the residents' intentions of changing the economic world order into a a global economic democracy. Thus, the Security Council voted unanimously to issue a formal request (i.e., disguised threat) that the residents of Latitude Zero remain sequestered deep beneath the sea, and to never have any designs upon influencing the surface nations in any way, or of recruiting any new residents from among the populace of any surface nation. The entire citizenry of Latitude Zero reluctantly agreed, and kept entirely to their own devices from that time onwards, enjoying the fruits of a wondrous mini-society that they could never share with the surface world, whose citizens needed to find their way to a more peaceful world order on their own.

Godzilla Time Line. Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeSat Jan 30, 2010 5:42 am

1970

At some point during this year, the dai kaiju of Monster Island, now having their crude, rudimentary degree of sentience and esper capacity fully developed, had a "consultation" via psychic means, where they resolved that due to the human race being part of their world, and helpless against many menaces that the kaiju alone could handle, would act to protect them if a serious, outside dai kaiju menace appeared on the scene. Thus did the period of the monsters' ambivalent status towards the human race come to an official end.

In the early half of this year, a U.S. space probe known as the Helios 7 is launched to explore the atmosphere of Jupiter. After several months, the advanced probe reaches the outer limits of the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, where it's infiltrated by a mysterious sentient and hostile being or consortium of such beings with a shared consciousness of living energy, who is able to take control of the unmanned vessel's electric systems, thus redirecting it back towards Earth at surprisingly great speed [this disembodied being was latter called 'Yog' in certain American press reports of the incident]. The Yog entities were evidently aware of the life forms of planet Earth, and as it/they had the ability to manipulate the physiology of organic beings as well as limited control over the systems of technological devices, the entities wanted to gain control over that world for its/their own nefarious purposes (see below).

[It's quite possible that bodiless beings of pure sentient energy do indeed exist, and may do so freely in the void of space without needing to exist on any planet. Due to these beings' being able to manipulate the energy matrices and lattices that interstice within the physical form of a biological organism, it's at least probable that such beings could "possess" and control organic life forms, and even manipulate their physiology, including enabling them to accrue mass from extra dimensional sources, and to confer various other abilities upon them. It's also quite likely that non-sentient organic life forms would be easier to control and manipulate than sentient organic beings. It was later to be suggested that the Yog entities may actually comprise an entire colony, or "race," of energy beings who, due to their linked "hive" consciousness, always had shared, rather than separate goals.

Upon its return to Earth, the Helios 7 landed in the sea next to an inhabited South Pacific atoll called Selga Island. There the Yog entities departed the now useless space vessel and entered the organic body of a giant squid, which is likely one of a small breeding population of such creatures descended from aquatic bio-weapons created millennia ago by Muan geneticists. Taking complete control of the creature's own subtle energy matrices, the Yog took complete control of the mammoth invertebrate, and (possibly) also altered the cuttlefish's physiognomy so as to lower its internal body temperature to the point where it could induce frostbite with a touch of its tentacles. Hoping to use Selga Island as the launching point of their eventual assault on greater humanity, the Yog caused the giant squid to initiate several attacks on the natives who inhabited the atoll, always followed by a quick retreat back to the sea. The aforementioned people named the giant squid "Gezora," who believed it to be a manifestation of a dangerous sea creature from the island folks' traditional lore.

Back in Japan, however, the island was actually being speculated upon as the location of a future tropical resort area by a Japanese company. A small team was sent to inspect the island for that purpose, and among the aforementioned group was a photographer named Kudo, who actually witnessed the premature landing of the Helios 7 back on Earth, though no one believed him; hoping to prove the veracity of his sighting, Kudo gladly took a job from the developer of the island resort to snap scenic photos of the projected resort area. The other members of the inspection trio was the developer's assistant, a woman named Ayako, and an inspector referred to simply as the Doctor, who was rather open about his theory that surviving gigantic prehistoric monsters lurked upon various islands in the South Pacific, and he hoped to investigate Selga Island on his spare time to hopefully provide some credence for the rampant rumors to that effect actually, the rumors were quite widespread, and the U.N. barely concealed its discovery of places such as Mondo Island, though many members of the public still dismissed it as bunk, believing all dai kaiju to be radioactive mutations; in actuality, the Doctor was quite correct, as these seeming prehistoric animals, as described above, were in actuality artificially created dinosaurs and other giant animals, many of them twice as large as their Mesozoic forebears, who were descended from such creatures created over 10,000 years in the past by advanced Muan science, and were not directly descended from the naturally evolved dinosaurs who became extinct at the end of the Age of Reptiles 65 million years in the past, as explicated in many other places on this timeline. Though Selga Island didn't have any remnants of these mighty artificially created prehistoric beasts, the Doctor and his fellow team members would nevertheless find giant creatures of a considerably different, but no less incredible sort, on that atoll.

Meanwhile, two of the island's inhabitants, who were acting as advance men for the inspection team, Yokayama and Sakura, were fishing, only to notice that the water was unnaturally cold. This, of course, turned out to be due to the close proximity of Gezora, who swiftly grabbed and killed Sakura. Yokayama was panic-stricken, and he and his girlfriend, an island girl named Riko, were determined to find out the nature of this kaiju. Upon the arrival of Kudo's inspection team, they were met by a rather mysterious individual named Mr. Rocata, who identified himself as an anthropologist conducting an independent study of the island's native culture. During the crew's investigation of the island, Gezora soon attacked again, and Riko is grabbed and nearly killed by the mega-brachiopod, until the sudden appearance of a passing swarm of bats drive the creature away with their ultra-sonic screeching sounds, proving the beast's vulnerability to such hypersonic frequencies. Though Riko was severely frostbitten by the monster squid's touch, she was able to make a full recovery.

After the team learned of the native populations' belief that the kaiju was a manifestation of Gezora, one of their native deities, Kudo confronted Rocata, and discovered that he wasn't actually an anthropologist, but an industrial spy sent to undercut the resort project. Though Rocata would seemingly be killed trying to flee Selga Island following this revelation.

During an underwater investigation via diving suits, Kudo and the Doctor discover the Helios 7 probe, which proved the former's assertions that he saw it land. They are also quickly attacked by Gezora, who would have killed them had it not been driven off by a school of dolphin whose use of sonar affected the kaiju in the same manner that the bats did on the surface. Upon their narrow escape, Kudo and the Doctor deduce that the Helios 7 must have been the cause of the creature's appearance.

Because of Gezora's extremely low body temperature, the Doctor opines that the sea beast would be extremely vulnerable to intense heat. Since there is an abandoned munitions depot on the island (as the locale was used by the Imperial Japanese military forces during World War II), they managed to find several incendiary bombs to utilize against the giant squid during its next attack on land. The ploy proves successful, and Gezora's body retreats to the sea upon being severely burned by the incendiaries. The Yog quickly abandons the emaciated carcass of Gezora before the creature's life signs completely expire, which would imperil the further existence of the Yog as well evidently, the entities link themselves to the energy lattice that creates the template of an organic being's physical body, and thus can be significantly disbursed, to the point of losing its self-awareness, or at least a portion thereof, if the creature it's possessing should happen to die before the entity fragment leaves it.

However, the Yog was undaunted, and dividing its consciousness, it took possession of a gigantic lobster and a gigantic aquatic turtle in the same manner that it previously possessed Gezora; the natives refer to those giant lobsters and aquatic turtles as "Ganime" and "Kamoebas" respectively, after two more island deities [the American press, unlike the Japanese media, didn't pick up these names, reporting only Gezora's moniker]. The Ganime and the Kamoebas were likely also descended from remnants of ancient Muan genetic engineering endeavors to create aquatic bio-weapons that managed to sustain a small breeding population into the present (much like the daidako and giant sea snakes). The Yog actually divided its consciousness into three, rather than two, and took possession of Rocata (the entities "rescued" him after he nearly drowned during his ill-fated attempt to flee the atoll in a small row boat for their own purposes), as the man's unscrupulous and greedy nature made him the easiest human on the island to control (though the only manner in which the entity fragment could manipulate the human's physiology was to confer superhuman strength upon him). However, as a human, Rocata was unaffected by sonar, and was thus directed by the Yog entities to set large fires in the caves on the island in order to kill all of the bats within, thus removing them as a threat to its control over the kaiju duo. Ganime and Kamoebas proved greatly resistant to both guns and fire, though the human inspectors managed to maneuver Ganime into falling into a huge pit where hundreds of sticks of dynamite were detonated, and this succeeded in destroying the creature.

Soon after this, however, the Yog entities spoke to Kudo's group through Rocata's body, where they reveals itself/themselves as a "race" of alien beings who reside in the vacuum of space, existing as pure formless but self-aware and greatly intelligent energy. Considering organic beings to be inferior to beings composed of pure energy, the malevolently egotistical Yog entities were determined to take control of an inhabited planetary body. To this end, the consciousness of the Yog divided once more, and took possession of another giant lobster, thus "resurrecting" Ganime. Summoning Kamoebas to its side again, the Yog resolved to use the kaiju duo to destroy all human inhabitants on the island, and to move on to the entire world from there, these beings were obviously quite ignorant of the plethora of other kaiju in the world, who would certainly make short work of the invasion attempt, if it was carried out as planned.

However, Ayako pleaded and urged Rocata to resist the possession of the Yog entities. Marshalling his willpower to the fullest, and revealing hidden heroic impulses that the Yog entities hadn't imagined the man to possess, Rocata managed to resist the entities that clung to his body's own energy matrices, and he summarily retreated into the jungle. Quickly gathering explosive devices from the abandoned military depot, he detonated the caves, thus releasing large numbers of bats, whose collective ultra-sonic screeches greatly disrupted with the entities' control over Ganime and Kamoebas. The two kaiju thus began fighting each other, their battle moving increasingly closer to an active volcano. The two monsters ultimately ended up falling into the cavern atop the volcano, and were promptly consumed by the super-heated lava, thus fragmenting the consciousness of the Yog.

Now having gained even further control over his own will, Rocata dove into the volcano's maw himself, his exalted sacrifice ensuring the destruction of the last of Yog entities' fragmented multi-consciousness, and ending their invasion attempt once and for all.

1971

During this year, as a result of the increasing amount of toxic pollution dumped into Japan's Suruga Bay thanks to its untrammeled for profit industrial production, a freakish colony of tiny mutant aquatic organisms are created that actually feed upon deadly pollutants and toxins, rather than being harmed by them. These miniature creatures, which resemble coal black tadpoles, have the ability to merge with each other and form one increasingly larger entity, who is only semi-solid in its physical composition. Within a matter of weeks, a single organism over 4 meters in length is created, and it becomes a major hazard to all ships docked in the bay. When a scientist named Dr. Tohru Yano dives into the bay to investigate, he encounters the creature and barely escapes with his life, though he suffers a hideously disfiguring scar on one side of his face as a result of coming into contact with the creature's corrosive sludge.

Shortly after the latter incident, Dr. Yano's young teen son Ken also has an encounter with the creature while standing on the shore of the bay, and the intrepid boy manages to slice off a piece of the kaiju's "flesh." Analyzed under a microscope by the recovering Dr. Yano, the scientist discovers the fact that this creature started out as numerous tiny sludge-like aquatic organisms that continuously merge together to form a larger one. Dr. Yano then hypothesizes that the monster must be of extraterrestrial origin, and fell to Earth over a billion years in the past on a meteor, only to be recently mutated by contact with the increasing amounts of toxic sludge carelessly dumped into the ocean (since scientists have theorized that the building blocks of all life on Earth may have arrived in this manner, there is no reason to actually assume that this new organism was actually truly extraterrestrial in nature).

Ken names the monster "Hedorah" [the kaiju's name was spelled "Hedora" in the international English-speaking press, and the initial news reports in the American media frequently referred to the toxic beast as simply "the Smog Monster"]. Dr. Yano also opines that Hedorah will continue to mutate into new and more powerful forms as it continues to devour more industrial pollutants, and the astute scientist would soon be proven correct. Ken, however, who was one of the many young fans of Godzilla since the latter's transformation into a bona fide protector of humanity, was confident that the Atomic Titan would appear to defend Japan, the latter's territory, from the dangerous kaiju if and when it appeared on land.

Just a few nights later, Hedorah mutates into an amphibious, quadrupedal creature over 30 meters in length, and no longer limited to feeding upon toxins and pollutants in the water, the smog monster crawls out of the bay late one evening and into the cityscape of Tokyo, true to Dr. Yano's prediction. The creature then began feeding upon toxic fumes issuing forth from industrial smokestacks atop a certain fuel refinery. However, true to Ken's prediction as well, Godzilla timely arrived to challenge Hedorah, and a fearsome battle quickly ensued. Despite this turn of events, Hedorah managed to defeat Godzilla by enveloping the Kaiju King under millions of gallons of a liquid toxic sludge that it exuded from from its body, and the poison-spewing beast promptly retreated back to the sea.

Soon after this, Hedorah mutated into a flying, pancake shaped creature that was entirely free from the water, and in its pursuit of more pollutants to feed upon, it carved a destructive swath throughout the island nation's heavily industrialized areas, killing numerous human beings with its toxic, corrosive smog-like sulfuric acid mist that its body gave off as the creature flew over them. Godzilla appeared again to challenge the deadly creature in its new form, but was once again fended off, this time by the creature's acid mist, and the fact that its sludge-like body could effectively absorb the Kaiju King's atomic breath.

A short time later, Hedorah mutated into its ultimate form, a 70 meter tall, shambling creature that resembled a towering bipedal being of pure sludge with two huge red eyes. In this form (though Hedorah could also metamorphose at will into its flying form), the toxic kaiju appeared in the Mt. Fuji area, where it resisted a concerted attack by the J.S.D.F.

The military constructed two extremely large electrical grids, which Dr. Yano surmised could dry the creature's sludge-like body to the point of emaciating it. Although Hedorah was nearly felled by the device, the untested experimental technology malfunctioned, and the deadly poison-spewing beast was loose again. Nevertheless, Godzilla soon appeared to challenge his seemingly implacable foe for the third time.

Godzilla received extremely stiff competition from Hedorah in battle, as its only semi-solid body could resist all of Godzilla's physical attacks, including his atomic breath, it would constantly befuddle him by transforming back and forth from its ultimate form to its flying form, and it delivered serious, nearly debilitating injuries to the Big G by spitting huge globs of corrosive sludge, at one point actually destroying one of Godzilla's eyes.
Further, the beast could concentrate its accumulated internal power reserves into a beam of destructive energy that it projected from its right eye, and this held the J.S.D.F.'s aerial assaults at bay.

Despite the extremely precarious situation, Godzilla utilized his recently acquired near-human level of intelligence and cunning by actually using his atomic breath to provide him with sufficient force and thrust to lift him off of the ground, and to propel himself through the air backwards, so as to be able to counter Hedorah's airborne attacks in its own element. Further, the Kaiju King also deduced the nature of the two giant electrical grids, and discovered that bursts of his atomic breath could activate them and continue to besiege Hedorah with a powerful fusillade of electrical energy.

After several minutes of such an attack, Hedorah's body was severely dried into little more than a dessicated husk, and Godzilla ripped two large glowing spherical objects from the smog monster's semi-amorphous body, which apparently functioned as its internal power source. After crushing these two energy-generating spheres in his hands, and subjecting Hedorah to several more blasts of electrical energy from the grids, the beast's sludge-like form was dried to the point of death, and the deadly kaiju was at last destroyed.

His job in Japan concluded, and roaring in anger at the human beings under his protection for irresponsibly using the industrial technology that spawned Hedorah in the first place, Godzilla departed the island nation, presumably to return to Monster Island.
This marked the first time that Godzilla appeared in Japan as an overt defender of the human race

1972

Sometime during this year, Earth came to the attention of another advanced Muan/Lemurian colony remnant with designs for conquering the former home world. This was an insect-like race of beings often referred to by alien aficionados as the Nebulans, since news reports claimed that they hailed from an Earth-like planet located within the Hunter M Nebula, this could very well have been a semantic misrepresentation of the general vicinity of the sky, as viewed from Earth, where the world allegedly existed; hence, the world colonized by the original Muan 'Nebulans' may have been Sedna, where they established great geodesic domes and an internal manner of heating their cities based on Lemurian crystal energy storage, without having to rely on any type of solar panels that would be hard-pressed to collect the distant sunlight emanated by Sol.

According to an account of a Nebulan contingent on Earth, many centuries ago their native civilization boasted an advanced industrialized humanoid race who ultimately destroyed their own environment with their reckless economic usage of their industries, and their race became extinct due to an eventual poisoning of their atmosphere and global water supply via the exponential increase in the dumping of industrial pollutants over the course of a few centuries. In fact, the planet's biosphere was ravaged to the extent that the vast majority of all animal species on that world had died out. One of the few exceptions was a race of genetically hardy insects who greatly resembled the most common species of Earth cockroach who may have been genetically modified beforehand by the experiments of these late Muan human colonists.

These insects fed upon the organic industrial waste and drank the polluted water, thus causing their genetic structure to rapidly evolve their species within several generations in order to survive in this new, hazardous environment. One of the evolutionary adaptations which these insects achieved was full sentience, as their neurological system developed to the point where they were able to grasp intellectual concepts on par with that of human beings, and even to develop their own language, culture, and system of writing. Once so evolved, the insects appropriated the numerous technological remains of the now extinct humanoid population, and adapted it for their own usage. Once fully mastered, they extrapolated upon the knowledge already gleaned, and mastered the human colonists' technical accomplishments, such as laser-based weaponry, sub-space communications, advanced radio wave technology, and even universal translator tech.

The Nebulan insectoids disliked living on their highly polluted world that was largely bereft of any valuable natural resources, and they had not yet developed their technology to the point where they could terraform and create viable biospheres on uninhabited, lifeless worlds. Moreover, their extremely polluted indigenous planetary environment proved resistant to their attempts to repair it, and they were unable to cultivate large amounts of food stuffs in the largely contaminated top soil across the breadth of their world. Having learned of the folly of their humanoid predecessors, the insectoid Nebulans developed a highly passive aggressive culture where they believed that they were morally superior to humanoid races less advanced than themselves. Hence, according to their prevailing mainstream moral philosophy, the conquering of a world run by industrialized humanoids who were less technologically advanced than themselves, but who retained the type of economic world order where the industries were misused for the benefit of the few, and thus destructive to the environment of their planet, would be in the best interests of that race. Of course, the latter moral and philosophical rationalization notwithstanding, the Nebulans were truly interested in primarily material factors regarding their conquest.

[Regarding the appearance of the Nebulans, it would seem that they were considerably larger than an Earth cockroach, but still quite a bit smaller than the average human being. Increased size was part of their evolutionary acceleration, and they undoubtedly underwent various physiological adaptations to enable them to function comfortably and efficiently at a size that was somewhat greater than that of the largest insect on Earth.

Like many advanced Muan/Lemurian colonies living in the Sol star system the Nebulans utilized dai kaiju as bio-weapons. Gigan was a 65 meter tall bipedal, reptilian kaiju, evidently created by cybernetically modifying a dinosaurian biped. Whether Gigan was created by the human or insectoid 'Nebulans,' he was cybernetically altered/enhanced so that his body had a natural atomic power source and a formidable array of built-in weaponry and other accoutrement to make the creature an extremely lethal living battle machine. Most importantly, Gigan's brain was cybernetically connected to a protruding antenna that directly received radio waves that could reach him unimpeded through sub-space, which allowed the kaiju's masters to control his every movement, and which made it impossible for the extremely intelligent, proto-sentient monster to rebel against his masters' directives. Utilizing their mastery of various radio wave frequencies, the Nebulans, like the Xians before them, managed to take control of the ultra-powerful, tri-headed interstellar dai kaiju known as King Ghidorah, who had menaced Earth twice in the past.

Several of the Nebulans' unmanned space probes reached the Earth by the beginning of the 1970's decade, and the former home world of their departed human forebears was judged perfect for the Nebulan Science Council's purposes.

Deciding upon a secret means of infiltrating the Earth, the Nebulans were well aware that Godzilla was their only major threat to the conquest of the planet actually believing that other formidable kaiju native to Earth, such as Rodan and Mothra, were only secondary threats. As such, they developed a powerful laser-like weapon that was designed to kill even the Kaiju King, and they integrated that plan into their infiltration agenda.

A few Nebulan operatives abducted and disguised themselves as various human beings who were responsible for the nearly completed Japanese amusement park project known as Children's Land (precisely how their remarkable disguise technology worked, however, is unknown; their pseudo-human disguises even bled human-like blood when they were injured). The star attraction of that theme park was to be Godzilla Tower, a life-sized construct designed to resemble the atomic-powered kaiju, and the laser-like weapon designed to kill him was hidden within the maw of the construct. Setting up their base of operations, a young woman and her flower child brother, the former of which was an employee of the soon to open park, managed to uncover that something strange was going on there. Upon making this discovery, she stole a tape cassette constructed by the Nebulans to be compatible with Earth technology of the time, and which would project the sub-space carrier wave that would attract King Ghidorah and Gigan to Earth, in order to facilitate the subjugation of the Terran populace "for their own good," and to establish a Nebulan regime over the global Terran population.

The panic-stricken young women managed to give the tape, for safe keeping, to a "socially relevant" cartoonist named Gengo Kodaka, who was hired by the secretly alien administrators of Children's Land to design new rides for the attraction. Presenting the tape to his sister Seisako, they played it, only to inadvertently activate the carrier wave frequency that would bring the two space kaiju to Earth. Over on Monster Island, Godzilla also perceived the carrier frequency, and instinctively suspecting trouble, he psychically instructed his ally Anguirus to swim to Japan to locate the source. However, the latter kaiju's unexpected arrival at a Tokyo harbor alarmed the local government, who sent a distress call to the federal government. As a result, a J.S.D.F. contingent was sent to fire upon Anguirus in order to encourage the creature to leave Japan and return to Monster Island. Not wanting to cause any incident with the human population, Anguirus indeed relented and returned to his home atoll.

While on Earth, the Nebulan operatives achieved peaceful communications with the people of Seatopia, whose underground kingdom was inhabited by an advanced human society who were direct descendants of the original great Muan 'super-civilization' that once ruled the Earth prior to 10,000 years ago, much as the insectoid Nebulans' human forebears were. The Seatopians sympathized with the Nebulans' stated pacifistic plans for the Earth, as they greatly resented the surface world and its destructive ways, and they agreed not to interfere with the Nebulans' plans as long as the latter agreed to leave Seatopia unmolested. The Nebulan government back on Sedna cordially agreed, and the Seatopians assisted them in finding a means of very quickly establishing clandestine operations on the planet; in return, they agreed to assist the Seatopians in the future should they so request it, and even gave them a sub-space transceiver device so they could send near-instantaneous communique's back to the Nebulan colony world.

Soon after playing the mysterious cassette tape, Kodaka and his sister joined up with the aforementioned young woman and her hippie brother to investigate the going-ons at Children's Land, and there the intrepid foursome discovered that their employers were actually insectoid aliens who were determined to conquer the Earth for their own purposes, along with their stated rationale that it was in the best interests of the human race for them to do so.

Soon afterward, King Ghidorah and Gigan arrived on Earth, and their alien masters ordered them to begin the invasion of the planet by wreaking havoc on Tokyo. Alerted to the danger, Godzilla and Anguirus soon arrived in Japan's capitol to counter the threat of the two deadly space monsters. A fierce battle erupted, with both Godzilla and Anguirus sustaining heavy injuries in battle with the two powerful star kaiju. When the battle was maneuvered into Children's Land itself, Godzilla was indeed nearly killed by the Nebulans' powerful laser weapon sequestered within Godzilla Tower.

However, Gigan made the fatal error of hurling the seriously injured Kaiju King into the tower itself. Upon smashing it to pieces on impact, Godzilla managed to absorb the released energies of the tower's power source, and he utilized this massive energy influx to jump start his body's natural incredible regenerative capacity. To make matters worse for the Nebulans, Kodaka and his three allies managed to use their own ingenuity to escape from their alien captors, and to initiate the destruction of their base, thus killing each of the otherworldly autocratic would-be saviors of the Earth. This freed King Ghidorah and Gigan from their control, though the two released space creatures posed as deadly a threat to the Earth whilst acting on their own volition as they did under the direct control of the Nebulans.

Now restored to full strength, Godzilla regrouped with Anguirus, and after a great coordinated effort that utilized the full potential of their proto-sentient ability to plan strategically, the heroic kaiju duo managed to topple the two space creatures despite the superior level of power possessed by the latter dyad. Humbled and battered, King Ghidorah and Gigan quickly fled the Earth, thus ending yet another alien threat to the planet, and Godzilla and Anguirus then returned triumphantly to Monster Island.

When news of the thwarted Nebulan invasion reached the Japanese government, the U.N. Security Council was consulted over preparing countermeasures towards detecting further signs of subversive extraterrestrial activity on Earth. Deeming the proposal to be an extremely good one for the future security of the planet, a specialized branch of the international Interpol agency was created, and was secretly known in high government circles as the Alien Counter Insurgency Defense agency (A.C.I.D.), with specially trained agents designed to scope out and counter any covert alien subterfuge across the globe, including Japan. One of the most talented members of this new branch of Interpol to receive such training, and assigned to operate specifically within his native Japan, was an outstanding secret agent named Nambura.

1973

In early March of this year, the continuation of atomic bomb tests conducted across the globe by several Earth governments, the advanced subterranean civilization of Seatopia suffered much detestation. The spiritual and political ruler of these descendants of the ancient Muan civilization resolved to seek vengeance on the surface world for their reckless use of their nuclear weaponry. The Seatopians evidently preferred to look upon the surface world as if it was a single global civilization, as opposed to numerous different separate and competing nation-states, each controlled by a separate ruling class.

As the Seatopian kingdom sat below the surface area of the island nation of Japan, they decided to strike there first, and they did this by inexplicably using their technology to punch a hole in the bottom of a small lake, where they almost caused the death of a boy named Rokkuchan Ibuki, younger brother of the brilliant roboticist Prof. Goro Ibuki, whom the Seatopians coincidentally targeted due to a recent important invention of the professor.

Prof. Ibuki had recently invented a highly advanced humanoid robot he named Jet Jaguar. This robot, who could be controlled by a hand held device, and could also fly via sophisticated foot jets, would receive his remote commands via a specific radio wave frequency. Upon investigation by various of their agents, the Seatopians discovered that the carrier wave emissions generated by the robot could enable them to control their guardian monster, Megalon.

The latter kaiju was one of the last remaining remnants of the elite and most powerful group of Muan bio-weapons created by that ancient super-civilization via their advanced genetic engineering techniques over 10,000 years ago. Created by genetically splicing a large amount of insect-like characteristics and abilities onto a bipedal mega-dinosaur, with a large array of natural defense weapons, Megalon was genetically "programmed" long ago to remain in an insensate state unless roused by certain wave emissions that the kaiju's specially modified cranial tissue would respond to something the Seatopians did in conjunction with a spiritual ritual. However, in order to insure that such a powerful bio-weapon would never turn on his masters, Megalon was created to be unable to control his movements effectively or coherently without being purposfully guided by a specific carrier wave frequency that only the ancient Muans themselves knew how to create, at least for many hours upon the creature first being summoned.

As such, though the Seatopians knew how to awaken Megalon, they currently lacked the knowledge and the means to create the required wave frequency that would enable them to control the creature's actions during the first day he was revived. However, they learned that Jet Jaguar, if under their control, could duplicate the required initial wave frequency, thus prompting the Seatopian ruler to send his agents to abscond with both the robot and Prof. Ibuki himself, whose technological expertise in constructing such advanced robots would be useful to the underground civilization.

Prof. Ibuki and Rokkuchan were kidnapped by Seatopian agents, while Jet Jaguar's control device was also stolen, thus enabling the Muan descendants to control the robot's actions. After Megalon was successfully awakened and commanded to burrow to the surface, the kaiju was immediately met by the Seatopian-controlled Jet Jaguar, and the monster was directed to begin inflicting vengeance upon the surface world by attacking Japanese urban areas. The J.S.D.F. countered Megalon's attack, and after a fierce battle, the 50 meter tall insectoid beast managed to use his formidable organic weaponry (which included bio-electric beams from his nose projection and the ability to fire 'napalm stones' from his gullet) to route the Japanese military forces. However, major problems ensued for the Seatopians' plans on two fronts. Before Prof. Ibuki and Rokkuchan could be taken to Seatopia, they were rescued by the Prof.'s friend, a professional race car driver named Hiroshi Jinkowa, and the trio then actively opposed the Seatopian agents.

Further, Prof. Ibuki had previously established countermeasures against just such an occurrance by pre-programming various command sequences in Jet Jaguar's A.I. system that would cause the robot to eventually break free from any commands that required him to commit "unjust" actions. It's not clear precisely how Prof. Ibuki managed to accomplish this based upon such subjective parameters, though it did appear to cause the robot to exceed its A.I. design limits so as to achieve a semblance of self-aware activities on his own volition. Thus, breaking free from control by either the Seatopians and Prof. Ibuki, but continuing to operate under the programmed "desire" to serve the cause of justice as interpreted by his A.I. systems, Jet Jaguar called upon his own internal data base for suggestions as to how to counter Megalon's attack, and he concluded the best way to do so was to travel to Monster Island and contact Godzilla. Doing so, the robot managed to convey the situation to the Kaiju King via a combination of a strange form of sign language and the deliberate use of a carrier wave emission that Godzilla's brain could evidently understand.

As the Atomic Titan began swimming to Japan, Jet Jaguar determined that he would have to take measures of his own until Godzilla reached the shores of the island nation. Thus, flying back to his native Japan far faster than Godzilla could swim, the robot landed in front of Megalon, who had by now managed to gain control over his own movements, and whom the Seatopians could now control with their less advanced carrier wave emission technology. Before Megalon could trample upon the robot, however, Jet Jaguar somehow programmed his internal power unit to tap into an extradimensional source of energy. By doing so, he rapidly added physical mass and volume to his body from this extradimensional source, and grew to a 50 meter height that equaled that of his kaiju foe. Using his now proportionally enhanced level of bionic strength, and his data base of pre-programmed martial arts skills, Jet Jaguar battled Megalon mono-a-mono, and managed to fight the insectoid kaiju to a standstill.

Realizing this unfortunate state of affairs, the Seatopions utilized the sub-space transponder given to them a year earlier by the Nebulans to contact that alien race on their homeworld in the Hunter M Nebula, and calling in a major favor, they requested the immediate assistance of Gigan. True to their word, the Nebulans complied, and the alien cyborg monster quickly travelled to Earth via his protective crystalline shell at warp speed. Upon the latter kaiju's arrival on terra firma, Jet Jaguar found himself completely overwhelmed by the combined might of the two powerful monsters. However, Godzilla soon arrived, and together he and Jet Jaguar countered the Megalon/Gigan duo. In fact, Jet Jaguar broke one of Gigan's arms, and the seriously injured space kaiju quickly retreated from the planet. Megalon was unable to handle both Godzilla and Jet Jaguar, and as such, the Seatopian ruler commanded the creature to return to his subterranean realm. That done, the Seatopian leader then demanded that various underground earthquakes be triggered by Seatopian technology to seal off all entrances to their underground kingdom, presumably to prevent retaliation by the surface world.

With the conflict won, Jet Jaguar shook hands with the now sentient Godzilla, and the Kaiju King returned home to Monster Island. Jet Jaguar then restored himself to his original human-sized height, and with his mission objective completed, he returned to the control of Prof. Ibuki.

Upon his retreat into space, Gigan's injuries prevented him from surrounding himself with his protective crystalline sphere that would enable him to navigate nearly light speed. As a result of exerting so much energy while seriously injured, the entirety of his cybernetic systems, including his internal atomic power source, began to malfunction soon after he departed from Earth. Unable to replenish his power reserves without assistance from his Nebulan masters, all of his systems shut down, and the once deadly space kaiju found himself adrift in the void of space, where he would remain for a few months until located by the sinister Garogain race, who would soon be heading to Earth themselves.

A few months later, elsewhere within Earth's solar system, another old but flourishing Muan colony, likely located on one of the Jovian moons, this time inhabited by a people who boasted an advanced, worldwide economic democracy and thus unofficially referred to as "Peaceland" in English came to the attention of a hostile, fascistic Muan intrasolar colony known as the Garogain, who most likely had one or a series of colonies and/or bases on various Jovian moons and asteroids, and in the midst of creating an intrasolar "empire." The warlike Garogain were masters of a type of genetic engineering that enabled the semi-humanoid beings to alter their physical appearance at will, and they used various techniques, from advanced genetics, radiation experimentation, and bionic and cybernetic technology to create numerous gigantic creatures later collectively referred to as "Terro-Beasts" by the Japanese press. They also used their advanced knowledge of carrier wave frequencies to capture and control independent stellar dai kaiju whose neurology was known to be vulnerable to such frequencies. The Garogain Empire was determined to secure their dominance of all sentient beings living within the Sol system by destroying all colonies who had advanced to the point where their society had achieved global peace and unity [there is no way of knowing how many displaced Muan colonies may have existed by the late 20th century in Earth's solar system]. Thus, 'Peaceland' was targeted by a specific large Garogain military contingent, who was commanded by a military leader later called 'Baron Garoga' in various Japanese published alien conspiracy books.

After launching a powerful assault on 'Peaceland,' the indigenous inhabitants of the latter world, despite their great ability to defend themselves, suffered devastating losses, but continued to battle to preserve their worldwide achievement of peaceful global democracy. However, one particular trio indigenous to 'Peaceland,' three siblings who were later simply referred to as the 'Zone family' in a crude translation of their actual name in various Earth languages, became separated from their fleet in their own small family starship, which used its sub-light travel capacity to travel to Earth, landing secretly in the outskirts of the Japanese city of Tokyo. There they used the technology on their ship which they nicknamed "Smoky" in English transliteration, due to its ability to create concealing clouds of billowy smoke around itself, particularly its computerized database and universal translators, to enable the three siblings to appear to speak and understand fluent Japanese, and to take on the assumed human guises of Hikaru, Kei, and Akira Sakimori their database came up with fore- and surnames that would not seem out of place in Japan. The people of 'Peaceland' outwardly resembled human beings of the Japanese race precisely, which is why it's nearly certain that it wasn't coincidental that the Zone family chose to land their starship in that part of the Earth.

The oldest of the three siblings, Hikaru, appeared to be a young adult in his 20's, and was given a very special set of superhuman powers-- learning to duplicate the process of the Garogain that enabled a humanoid being and other living creatures to accrue enormous amounts of additional mass from an extra dimensional source so as to enable those beings to gain tremendous physical size and an exponential increase in physical strength, Hikaru was endowed by 'Peaceland' scientists with the ability to accrue enough mass that he was able to quickly grow to a height of 40 meters at will, and his super humanoid strength in this form would be great enough to enable him to engage in physical combat with dai kaiju. To make the young man even more formidable, Hikaru was heavily trained in acrobatics and a form of martial arts, thus enabling the young man to become an extremely skilled hand-to-hand combatant at either size, in addition to various forms of formidable personal weaponry.

In his gigantic form, Hikaru became known on Earth as Zone Fighter. By using the energy of the sun as a power source, and converting it into a slightly altered form of energy which he referred to as "proton" energy, Hikaru was able to make his transformations possible. He was therefore dependent upon exposure to sunlight, and his power level would rapidly deplete the longer he was in an environment where he was deprived of exposure to solar radiations. Zone Fighter could also focus the proton energy into his Proton Beam, a focused ray of highly destructive heat energy, and his wrist gauntlets contained a large amount of powerful miniature explosive missiles that he could fire by depressing hidden buttons within his palm gloves in a certain fashion, and he referred to this as his Missile Might he also mastered a special, particularly strong form of roundhouse kick that he christianed his "Comet Kick," which may have utilized focused proton and/or chi energy. His transformations would include the instant appearance of his skin tight space suit and mask, both of which were composed of bio-mimetic, tear-resistant material, so that it would grow in conjunction with his physical form, and appear over his body in concert with the activation of his size-altering technology.

As for Hikaru's two siblings, both of them also possessed a great degree of martial arts and acrobatic training, and were highly athletic, though neither of them underwent the difficult procedure that endowed their older brother with the capacity to obtain gigantic size and power. His younger sister Kei, who took on the costumed identity reported in the press as Zone Angel, had a type of vaguely defined psychic ability that she simply referred to as her "keen feminine intuition". Akira's costumed sentai identity was rather condescendingly reported in the press as Zone Jr., and he was forced to use nothing more than his natural cunning and resourcefulness in combat.

The Zone family, upon their arrival on Earth, modified their starship's shuttle to resemble a terran passenger vehicle of this time period, which they named the Mighty Liner. Both Smokey and the Mighty Liner possessed highly sophisticated computer systems and various advanced weaponry. Soon after reaching Earth, the Sakimoris took up residence with a kind-hearted Japanese family, and discovered to their horror that a small but formidable Garogain unit had managed to track their warp signature back to Earth. Though Earth was hardly a peaceful world, Baron Garoga noted that its technology was just advanced enough to make it potentially evolve into a global economic democracy in the future, and that it may very well be best to have his small military division destroy this planet while it was still a technological backwater in comparison to the Garogain. Further, since he was aware that the Zone family was now located here, he wanted to see to it that he would also complete his mission to annihilate the dangerous sentai refugees from 'Peaceland.'

Upon the discovery that Garogain agents were now infiltrating and threatening the Earth, the Zone family resolved to thwart the invasion plans for the safety of their adopted world, and chose to stay even after they fully repaired the star ships' warp field generator, and they vowed to remain earthbound until the Garogain were permanently driven from the Earth.

During the next few months, the Zone family battled numerous schemes by the Garogain to wreak havoc upon Japan, and even upon the entire planet. In his giant form, Zone Fighter battled and defeated many Terro-Beasts who threatened the world on behalf of the Garogain. Of particular note, however, was the fact that Godzilla himself had allied himself with Zone Fighter to battle and defeat several Terro-Beast incursions, and during this time the Big G had reached the zenith of his proto-sentience and status as defender of the Earth.
On one occasion, Zone Fighter and Godzilla even engaged in a mock training battle on Monster Island.

Also of note was the fact that two of Godzilla's deadliest opponents of past years confronted Zone Fighter under the auspices of the Garogain. At one point, Baron Garoga happened to locate and take control over King Ghidorah, the latter of whom was then traveling about in the form of a ferrous meteor in deep space upon being freed from the control of the Nebulans during their ill-fated attempt to conquer the Earth a year earlier. Using their carrier wave technology to take control of the ultra-powerful space kaiju, they also used their technology to enhance the tri-headed beast's ability to control his gravity defying power, thereby enabling him to extend his null-gravity field so as to levitate objects other than himself. King Ghidorah was brought under Baron Garoga's wing as a special defense against Godzilla and Zone Fighter, though only the latter ended up in combat with the star dragon during this year. King Ghidorah was first utilized on behalf of the Garogain when a human scientist discovered a way to counter the aliens' Dark Prism Operation, a monumental scheme that imperiled the entire planet by negating all sunlight in Earth's vicinity.

When King Ghidorah was sent to kill the scientist, Zone Fighter engaged him in battle alone, only to find out that the power of the space dragon was too great for him to overcome alone. Nevertheless, Zone Angel and Zone Jr. discovered a means, via their own advanced knowledge of science, to circumvent the Dark Prism Operation with waves of electrical energy. Regrouping after an arduous recovery, Zone Fighter managed to lead King Ghidorah away from the Earth to a huge asteroid elsewhere in Earth's solar system. Though King Ghidorah still proved all but unbeatable, Zone Fighter finally managed to defeat his most deadly opponent ever by a combination of luck, his own prodigious wits, the use of the full power of his Proton Beam and Missile Might, and some assistance from his two siblings. King Ghidorah was then apparently freed from the control of the Garogain, and he once again fled Earth's solar system, and would not be seen on the planet again for over two decades.

As noted above, the Garogain had also managed to obtain the exanimate body of the cyborg monster Gigan, which was almost entirely depleted of his internal atomic power supply, after his serious defeat on Earth in battle with Godzilla and Jet Jaguar a year earlier. Though the Garogain were able to give Gigan an alternative power source to make the kaiju mobile again, they were unable to duplicate the Nebulans' means of reigniting his internal power atomic fusion generator, and the beast was now deprived of the ability to wield his deadliest weapons, including his optical laser beam, his buzzsaw, and even his power of flight. In an attempt to compensate, the Garogain implanted miniature explosive devices on the tips of Gigan's hand scythes, which were designed to explode when the creature struck an opponent. Nevertheless, this proved to be largely ineffective compared to the weaponry his former masters, the Nebulans, bestowed upon him. When the greatly weakened Gigan was sent to ravage Japan by the Garogain, he was easily beaten into submission by his old foe Godzilla. However, when the Kaiju King left the area, Gigan revived, and planned to continue his pre-programmed mission to attack Japanese urban areas. However, this time Zone Fighter countered the cyborg monster's attack, and due to the fact that the latter was bereft of his most powerful weaponry, Zone Fighter not only battled him to a standstill, but also seemingly destroyed him with a full power barrage of his Missile Might.

During the course of the Garogains' several month attempt to destroy the Earth and the Zone family, culminating in October of this year, Godzilla assisted Zone Fighter in defeating the Terro-Beasts called Wargilgar and Spilar, Zandolla, Jellar and Kastam-Jellar, and Kabutoji and Galobug. Finally, after long months of conflict, Zone Fighter and his two siblings managed to deal the Garogain a crippling blow that finally drove them away from the Earth for good.

Upon their final defeat of the Garogain unit who threatened the Earth, the Zone family bid their adopted family and planet adieu, and departed Earth to continue their battle with the far larger battalion of the Garogain who threatened what was left of 'Peaceland,' along with the other fully global democratic worlds elsewhere in the galaxy, and there were no other recorded instances of the sentai and his family visiting the Earth again.

1974

Late in this year, Earth came to the attention of yet another hostile, advanced, and fascistic intrasolar race derived from an ancient colony of human Muans/Lemurians, this time known as the Simeons they were so named by various experts and chroniclers of the paranormal who reported tales of their invasion in such magazines as Fate and Omnibus, both of which were dedicated to covering strange topics often relating to the paranormal, due to the fact that these aliens' true appearance was simian in nature.

Several decades ago, their unnamed world, likely one of the Jovian moons, was dominated by the human Muan colony, who took as much of their advanced technology and knowledge with them as they possibly could after leaving Earth. This particular Muan colony used genetic engineering techniques to evolve a group of great apes they took with them into human-sized, completely bipedal apes with human-level intelligence for the purpose of using them as slave labor though their intellect was initially assumed to be less than it actually was.

Eventually, due to means largely unknown, a few of these intelligent, genetically modified simians secretly developed the ability to read and write their human captors' dominant native language, and these educated groups of apes, who were filled with bitter resentment towards their human overseers, later instigated a successful and bloody global revolution. The humans were soon subjugated, and the role of master and slave on that world was dramatically reversed. Since the apes, later to be called the Simeons in English vernacular, had spent so much time building and modifying the humans' advanced technology at the latter's behest, they were able to appropriate and master that technology as well as later improving upon it with relative ease.

The apes soon proved even more malicious and decadent slave masters than the humans ever were. The no longer ascendant human population were treated as entirely subhuman beings, and were routinely physically abused at will by the apes, often in a ghastly and sadistically cruel manner that left many of them permanently scarred or disfigured, in order to impose the simians' own harsh brand of discipline upon them, starting from an early age. The newly established simian empire then quickly chose commanders to fill various important roles in the functioning of their new tyrannical, totalitarian society, and many of their experiments involved extrapolating upon the rather primitive, sub-light travel engines that the human scientists and engineers were beginning to develop during their last days in control of that colony world This world could have been located, beneath protective geodesic domes, on the surface of Titan or Io.

The Simeon upper political hierarchy, however, displayed little interest in space travel outside of their native solar system, and would likely have been more than contented to simply rule over their homeworld and the colonies established within their own solar system if not for an extremely threatening astronomical phenomena that suddenly appeared in their star system.

For unknown reasons, a deadly stellar phenomenon referred by them as a "black hole," but which may have been the rogue neutron star Gorath during its early days in Earth's solar system, and the rapidly approaching spatial calamity would soon wreak havoc on their colony world. This crisis of extreme magnitude caused the Simeons to hasten the use and development of their sub-light space vessels, and to search for another colony world in order to save and preserve the existence of their race terraforming uninhabited worlds may not have been an option, since the process takes so much time, preparation, and resources, and the Simeons had barely over a decade to find suitable colony worlds to move their mini-empire to.

Soon, the Simeon science division determined that the Muan humans' original homeworld of Earth to be ideal as at least a temporary place to conquer and acquire all the resources they would need as part of their plan for a long sub-light trip out of their native solar system in search of an extrasolar world to colonize since Earth would eventually be approached by Gorath, also. Since Earth of the latte 20th century was much less advanced than their own, but the terran level of technology was just advanced enough to make its appropriation useful, and was inhabited and dominated by a human race that was similar in many ways to their world's own captive humans, the Simeon high command decided that the humans of Earth would make a vast supply of slave labor to more quickly facilitate the establishment of several Simeon extrasolar colonies [and possibly also as an enslaved soldier race to help fend off attacks from some of the other militaristic and mechanistically inclined Muan colonies, such as the Xians and the Garogain]. Hence, Earth was chosen as one of the major target acquisitions for the planned Simeon exodus from the Sol system.

Not having the time or resources to construct and launch a large invasion fleet, the Simeon high command ordered several agents of their military and science division to disguise themselves as human beings and to set up a few small secret bases across the Earth due to the importance of this trip. None of the enslaved humans were sent this time around; for the second invasion force a year later, the Simeons seemed less inclined to risk the lives of too many of the dominant simian race of their colony world, and so they sent human slaves instead. Some of whom had to cover their scarred facial appearance under realistic latex masks; the scars were due to the constant abusive disciplinary measures these human slaves suffered from childhood onwards at the hands of their brutal simian masters.

Upon secretly observing the Earth, it was determined that the only major obstacle to their invasion plans was to be found with Godzilla [reports of whom they acquired via intercepting various sub-space band communiques' from the Xians, the Nebulans, the Garogain, and the Seatopians. In order to meet the projected threat of Godzilla, the Simeon science and engineering divisions of their government were given the task of studying the Kaiju King in depth, and devising a military countermeasure. It was eventually decided, in accordance with the Simeons' aesthetic and practical desire to have a dai kaiju of their own under their control, and inspired by the giant Mogera robots whom they knew to be utilized by the Mysterians, they decided to construct a robotic doppelganger of Godzilla himself, whom they would refer to translated into English as "Mechagodzilla." This giant robot would be equipped with a vast array of the Simeons' best advanced offensive beam and projectile weaponry, as well as being constructed of a highly impervious metal that was evidently an enhanced alloy of titanium, and which was thus later referred to in the Earth press as "space titanium."

In pursuit of this goal, all of the small number of hidden Simeon bases were constructed within Japan, the Earth nation-state who experienced by far the most numerous visitations by Godzilla and other dai kaiju. After several months, their 55 meter tall Mechagodzilla was completed and ready for testing.

Nevertheless, a few obstructions in the Simeons' plans had emerged. For one thing, it was discovered that the nearby island of Okinawa was under the protection of a mystical dai kaiju known as King Seesar, who resembled a bipedal cross between a lion and a reptile, with a third eye in the middle of his forehead. This pastiche of animal characteristics present in one being made it very clear that King Seesar was obviously an ancient kaiju of supernatural origin, one of the several great monsters of the past who were created via the mystical prowess of the many guardian ancestral spirits and/or deities who protected various cultures on Earth from any threat, and who existed for no other purpose, these beings had long since fallen into the category of legend, folklore, and myth. King Seesar lay in a perpetually inanimate state buried under a mountainside just across from his temple palace maintained and inhabited since antiquity by the fabled Okinawan Azumi clan.

The female members of this clan all possessed latent psychic abilities, a characteristic that would prove quite important in their relationship to King Seesar. Long ago a small statue of the leonine guardian monster was constructed, and it was through a combination of this statue and the natural psychic rapport developed between King Seesar and the priestesses of the Okinawan Azumi clan who could actually rouse the beast from his near-constant slumber this connection was obviously established many centuries ago by the same ancestral spirits and/or deities who created King Seesar, and established the three-eyed kaiju as protector of the island of Okinawa.

When the statue was placed in a certain section of the outside temple, during the time when the sun was above the sky, a beam of solar energy would be projected from the statue's third eye facsimile at the mountainside, causing a small landslide that would reveal the slumbering King Seesar. The monster could then only be woken by a special ritualistic chant and dance performed by a genuine psychically aware priestess of the Azumi clan.

As it turned out, a prophecy was inscribed on the statue many centuries ago, which predicted that in the year 1974 A.D., a monster would appear to ravage Okinawa, who would then be opposed by King Seesar; however, it would only be upon the arrival of a third monster that the original menace would be defeated. Various specific anomalous omens and portents would appear soon before this was to occur, and a disturbing sequence of psychic premonitions would be seen by a modern Azumi priestess to make it clear that the prophecy would soon be fulfilled. As it turned out, an Azumi priestess named Keisuke Shimizu did indeed have the distressing premonition, and this caused her to faint in distress during the middle of a dance performance she was conducting.

Since the Simeons had studied this Okinawan prophecy during their study of Earth culture, they were aware of its existence. Though the Simeons were more or less entirely rationalistic beings, they had evidently conducted enough scientific study on psychic phenomena on their homeworld to conclude that such phenomena actually existed. Since they learned that the prophecy written on the statue had coincided with their own invasion plans, as well as their construction of their own bionic kaiju and the appearance of all prophesied omens including a visible sighting of a mountain hovering upside down in the sky, an obvious ethereal projection designed to signal the onset of the prophecy, the Simeons concluded that the possible reality of the prophecy and King Seesar's existence must be dealt with. Thus, it was decided that a Simeon agent would steal the statue, thereby thwarting the realization of the prophecy.

The second obstacle that materialized in the way of the Simeon invasion force was the fact that it was detected by the Japanese division of A.C.I.D., the special Interpol task force designed to find evidence for alien activity on Earth, and to neutralize it. The Simeon presence was ferreted out by the implacable Agent Nambura, who began trailing the various alien assignees.
Also somehow aware of the alien presence was Godzilla and Anguirus, both of whom separately departed Monster Island to deal with the threat.

The Simeon menace first reared its head overtly when the archeologist Hideto Miyajima, who initially discovered the hidden location of the statue of King Seesar during his exploration of various Azumi clan caverns in Okinawa, found himself under attack by a disguised Simeon agent. A similarly disguised alien agent made a second unsuccessful attempt to abscond with the statue while Miyajima was on a cruise ship heading back to Japan. In both instances, his life was saved by Nambura, who was trailing the aliens all along. During the incident on the cruise ship, the Simeon agent's disguise was compromised, and his inhuman simian nature was discovered just before Nambura killed him during this confrontation. After Miyajima witnessed the truth, and since he was so far insinuated into the situation, Nambura reluctantly revealed to him what was going on.

The Commander of the Simeon invasion force had then decreed that it was time to test Mechagodzilla's might by way of a dramatic appearance in Japan. However, in order to attempt to preserve the anonymity of the deadly mechanized kaiju, it was decided to cover the robot with synthetic skin and false ocular implants to disguise the construct as the real Godzilla. In display of its power, the disguised Mechagodzilla was directed to roam the Japanese countryside, destroying an oil refinery along the way. Alerted to his presence, Anguirus emerged from underground and attacked the incognito robot. However, Mechagodzilla's bionic strength proved to be far more than a match for Anguirus, and the latter kaiju was brutally thrashed, and this beating was rounded off with his jaw being cruelly broken by the giant robot. The seriously injured monster had no choice but to scamper away to nurse his wounds.

As Mechagodzilla's trek through the island nation continued, the real Godzilla quickly surfaced from the sea to challenge his seeming doppelganger. It was during the course of this battle that the robot began having chunks of its synthetic overskin ripped off, and as a result the Simeon Commander decided that it was now the time to reveal the robot's true nature. Hitting a control switch designed to immediately shed the robot's skin, Mechagodzilla was finally revealed in all of its metallic glory.

As the battle continued, Mechagodzilla severely injured the real Godzilla with its solid titanium talon projectiles, which along with its various powerful beam weapons managed to easily penetrate Godzilla's otherwise nearly impenetrable hide something few of his foes were ever able to do. The seriously bleeding kaiju fled back into the sea in order to convalesce and regroup.

In order to heal his massive wounds more quickly, Godzilla surfaced on a tiny island and absorbed large amounts of electrical energy from an overhead thunder storm; this displayed how the Kaiju King's metabolism had progressed from years earlier, where electricity would wound rather than empower him though it's likely that electricity could only heal him if absorbed under specific circumstances via his own conscious volition, as opposed to his being involuntarily subjected to electrical bombardment.

After the end of its initial battle with Godzilla, however, Mechagodzilla malfunctioned, and the triumphant robot was forced to be recalled to the home base of the Simeons. The Commander decreed that in order to repair the robot as expeditiously as possible, they would forcibly acquire the assistance of a brilliantly gifted and ethical human technologist named Prof. Wagura. The Prof. and his daughter Nami were kidnapped, and threats on the life of the latter forced the technologist to assist in affecting the requested repairs upon Mechagodzilla.

After Miyajima was also captured, he, Prof. Wagura, and Nami were imprisoned in a small containment cell by their alien captors, who sadistically attempted to slowly kill them by filling their cell with scalding hot steam. Nevertheless, the three of them managed to find a way to escape thanks largely to Prof. Wagura's technological expertise.

Returning the statue of King Seesar to the Azami priestess Keisuke in Okinawa, she initiated the process of awakening the sleeping guardian kaiju. Upon being liberated from his trance-like state, King Seesar fiercely attacked Mechagodzilla who was sent to destroy him while still slumbering, only to have the supernatural kaiju discover that he, too, was no match for the ultra-powerful giant robot in a one-on-one battle. Nevertheless, in fulfillment of the final portent relating to the above stated prophecy, the completely healed Godzilla rose from the sea and challenged his robotic doppelganger anew. Mechagodzilla proved to be an incredibly formidable adversary against even the combined might of Godzilla and King Seesar, and the former was once again seriously injured with much of his blood drawn.

The tide of battle was then turned on two fronts. The first was Agent Nambura locating the Simeon stronghold and leading an attack by a battalion of specially trained and heavily armed Interpol agents.

The second was Godzilla utilizing his internal atomic energy in a unseen manner. Godzilla managed to summon his internal energy furnace to surround his body with a thin but incredibly powerful magneto-gravitic field that effectively transformed him into a giant living magnet. First using this power with a negative polarity to expunge the many titanium projectiles that had penetrated his skin, he then reversed the polarity into a positive magnetic field that caused the giant robot to adhere helplessly to his body. As King Seesar ruthlessly smashed the giant robot repeatedly, Godzilla managed to tear its head unit from its body, thus rendering the severely damaged automaton inoperative. Godzilla then blasted its exposed circuitry with his atomic breath, causing the metallic husk to explode, with all of its damaged bulk falling into the sea.

In the meantime, Nambura's armed raid succeeded in routing the Simeon invasion cell, who was evidently ill-prepared for such an attack despite their advanced firepower. Nambura used an extremely powerful explosive disguised as a common metal smoking pipe to demolish the alien stronghold.

At the end of the battle, the again wounded Godzilla departed to the sea to facilitate the healing of his injuries once more, and King Seesar returned to his slumber in the mountainside until such time as Okinawa may again need the protection of its kaiju defender. The statue was then placed back in its proper place in the Azumi palace temple.

PostSubject: Re: Godzilla Time Line.   Godzilla Time Line. I_icon_minitimeSat May 29, 2010 5:47 am

1975

Beginning in April of this year, the Japanese government made a concerted effort to locate the metallic remains of Mechagodzilla, as they hoped to analyze what was left of the alien tech and metal alloys in the hopes of developing more formidable weaponry and surveillance equipment to use against both dai kaiju and extraterrestrial threats that may materialize in the future. Towards this end, several submarines were sent to probe the depths of the Pacific Ocean in search of the wreckage, but upon locating it the sub was attacked and destroyed by Titanosaurus, a previous unknown 70 meter tall amphibious dinosaur mutation.

As it turned out, another Simeon invasion cell had established a hidden base in Japan, and was acting under orders from central command to retrieve and repair the metallic carcass of Mechagodzilla before the human governments could get their hands on the Simeon technology. Towards that end, the leader of this particular alien invasion cell, an exceptionally cruel commander named Mugar, decided to take an ally from within the human race. Their chosen recruit was the brilliant though extremely embittered and malcontented Japanese marine biologist Dr. Shinzo Mafune. Dr. Mafune had discovered the existence of Titanosaurus nearly two decades earlier, but was unable to offer proof since this particular mutated dinosaur was a shy and gentle creature who avoided contact with human beings, and the amphibious kaiju preferred to spend most of his time under the sea. Though other dinosaur mutations were known to exist following the atomic bomb tests of the 1940's at the time the scientist reported his discovery, Dr. Mafune's colleagues, along with the press and the entirety of the scientific establishment, ridiculed his claims, as the already eccentric scientist was not considered a reliable source of information despite his renowned skill in his field of work, especially considering the fact that he was unable to offer proof that this particular dai kaiju was real, Dr. Mafune was accused of exploiting the tragedy of Godzilla and Rodan's then recent attacks on Japan in order to gain undeserved attention and renown.

As a result, the already socially ostracized scientist became increasingly vexatious upon receiving this severe criticism from all quarters, and this eventually took a serious toll on his sanity, culminating in his utter hatred of the human race. Having few endeavors of any real merit to work on through the succeeding years as a result of his rejection by the mainstream scientific community, Mafune poured a lot of his time and energy into periodically locating and conducting further and independent studies on Titanosaurus. Eventually, the scientist learned that certain radio wave frequencies would irritate and drive the beast off, though this discovery proved of little use to him at the time.

When Mafune's situation was discovered by Simeon intelligence agents answerable to Mugar during their investigation into the human scientific field, the brutal alien commander realized that the embittered scientist would very likely be swayed into assisting the invasion. Further, Mafune managed to convince his loyal daughter Katsura, who had worked for one of the Japanese government's intelligence agencies, into assisting them.

It was soon discovered, however, that the Japanese division of Interpol's A.C.I.D. task force had discovered this second Simeon invasion cell in addition to the first that it helped bring down a year earlier, and that they had also discovered Dr. Mafune's involvement with them, along with the verification of Titanosaurus's existence. This was largely through the efforts of an A.C.I.D. agent named Akira Ichinose, whose investigation led him to Dr. Mafune's home, where he met and became romantically attracted to Katsura, an attraction that was mutual. As a result of learning the monster's vulnerability to certain radio frequencies, the government began working on a powerful oscillator to completely disable the kaiju. Simeon counterintelligence discovered this, however, and sent Katsura to infiltrate the government installation that was constructing the oscillator in order to sabotage it. However, she was caught in the act by the Interpol security agents who were stationed there, and she was shot and seriously injured, though Simeon intelligence agents managed to retrieve her and stabilize her condition before she could be captured by Interpol.

In order to further secure Mafune's cooperation in a manner that didn't require force or intimidation, Mugar grasped the opportunity to test some of their experimental cybernetic enhancement techniques by using them to save Katsura's life. Thus, at the hand of Simeon physicians, Dr. Mafune's daughter was surgically transformed into a cyborg, a process that preserved her life [evidently, the cybernetic enhancement procedures weren't viable on simian physiology at its then current level of advancement, which was why it wasn't used to enhance any of the Simeon troops; this knowledge was probably previously tested on the simians' human slave race who previously dominated that Muan colony world]. As a result, both Katsura and Dr. Mafune did indeed feel more indebted to the aliens, and the latter was more than happy than ever to offer his assistance to a group of powerful, non-human allies who were out to conquer his own species, who he believed had rejected him and whom he blamed for his mounting inner turmoil and nervous breakdown over the years. When Mafune revealed his study of Titanosaurus to the Simeon invasion cell, Mugar had the radio transceiver device the scientist had designed to be modified by Simeon tech in such a manner that he could now alter the frequency so as to manipulate the shy dinosaur mutation into any type of activity he chose, including violent acts, behavior that was ordinarily inimical to the diffident creature.

Initially, Mafune used Titanosaurus to guard Mechagodzilla's remains from being recovered by human salvage crews at Mugar's request, who also hoped to use the aquatic kaiju as back-up for Mechagodzilla in case any of Godzilla's kaiju allies arrived on the scene. Since the Okinawan prophecy had by now run its course, the new Simeon invasion cell correctly deduced that King Seesar was no longer a factor in the equation, particularly since Mugar's headquarters wasn't situated in Okinawa.

In the meantime, Mechagodzilla's remains were recovered and repaired by the Simeon technicians, who replaced the robot's talon projectiles with explosive missiles. In order to guide the robot at the speed of thought, the control module was surgically placed inside of Katsura's stomach, and cybernetically connected to her neural system, so that she could literally will the robot into action when they deemed the time to be correct for the invasion to initiate an overt show of force.

However, Dr. Mafune's increasing mental instability caused him to grow impatient with the progress of his alien allies, particularly since they requested that he keep Titanosaurus aside until Mechagodzilla's repairs and upgrades were complete. Nevertheless, Mafune caved to his escalating impatience, and was determined to show Mugar how dangerous Titanosaurus really was under his full control. Thus, Mafune utilized his improved sonic transceiver to manipulate his unwilling kaiju flunky into attacking Tokyo. Though Titanosaurus easily fended off the attempts of the J.S.D.F. to stop him, his onslaught was interrupted when Godzilla emerged from Tokyo Bay, apparently having been alerted to the appearance of another kaiju threat as a result of being underwater close to Japan, there is quite a bit of evidence that the monsters had psychic abilities that were a byproduct of their mutation, just as many normal animals are believed to be naturally psychic, and that the dai kaiju are able to psychically sense the close proximity of other monsters; this is how highly developed kaiju espers like Mothra could communicate with other dai kaiju telepathically.

The two monsters engaged in battle, with Titanosaurus proving no match for Godzilla, as the latter was not only more powerful, but also a considerably more experienced combatant. Despite the fact that the observing Mugar was angry that Dr. Mafune had ignored his request to delay Titanosaurus's further involvement in the invasion attempt, he nevertheless concluded that though he had little doubt that Titanosaurus would lose the fight, it may work to his advantage if Godzilla was so weakened by the battle that he would prove a much easier kill for Mechagodzilla soon afterward.

Nevertheless, Godzilla successfully drove Titanosaurus from Tokyo without suffering any injury.

In the hope of taking Japan out of action before Interpol could mount an effective defense, Mugar decided to go for broke and he ordered Dr. Mafune and Katsura to initiate Titanosaurus and the reactivated Mechagodzilla, respectively, to attack and demolish Tokyo. Soon after this attack commenced, Godzilla reappeared, and ,rather unwisely, attempted to route both of these kaiju menaces without any of his kaiju allies at his side. Godzilla was overwhelmed by the combined might of both of his monstrous adversaries, and soon appeared on the verge of defeat. This distressing state of affairs was countered by an A.C.I.D. Interpol task force led by Agent Ichinose, as the agency's team of engineers managed to perfect the oscillator device that would have detrimental effects on Titanosaurus. With the latter kaiju taken out of the battle via Interpol's entrance into the fray, Godzilla quickly recovered, and was free to take on his bionic double mono-a-mono. During the battle, it appeared that Mechagodzilla was unleashed on Japan much too hastily after being repaired, as Godzilla once again detached the robot's head from its body, and this time without any assistance.

Nevertheless, since its main control unit was now in Katsura's gastro-intestinal tract, rather than the robot's head unit, the deadly automaton continued to fight, and actually managed to project powerful bolts of electrical energy from its internal power core at Godzilla in order to hold him at bay.

During this time, however, Ichinose led an Interpol raid on the Simeon base, which they finally managed to locate. In the ensuing firefight, the alien troops were routed, and Mugar and Dr. Mafune, both of whom were present at the base, were killed it was revealed during their second invasion attempt that the Simeons had apparently used conscripted humanoids from their home planet as cannon fodder for the purposes of the invasion, as one lost his disguise during the course of their conflict with Interpol. Despite bringing her superhuman cybernetic abilities to bear upon the Interpol agents, Katsura was nonetheless severely injured in the melee. This devastated Agent Ichinose, who had previously resolved to save her, as he believed that she was an inherently good person who had simply been corrupted by outside influences, though not irrevocably; he truly believed that his love could eventually bring her back to the light. As Ichinose cradled her in his arms he realized that, ironically, his love did indeed save her soul in the end.

Realizing that her recent choices had led to the complete downfall of her father as opposed to his absolution, caused huge degrees of havoc to be wreaked on the citizenry of her country, and had also caused her to lose part of her humanity by resulting in her transformation into a cyborg, Katsura chose to make up for what she did by committing seppuku with a gun laying near her, and Ichinose was simultaneously proud and heartbroken by her selfless sacrifice for the good of the many. By taking her own life, Katsura destroyed the device implanted in her stomach that enabled her to control Mechagodzilla, and this served as her spiritual redemption.

Bereft of Katsura's conscious direction, which cybernetically controlled the robot, the alien automaton went completely awry, and was then demolished by Godzilla. With his robotic doppelganger once again reduced to scrap metal, the Atomic Titan then turned his attention on Titanosaurus. Seriously injured and forever freed from Dr. Mafune's nefarious control, Titanosaurus swiftly made for the safe haven of the Pacific Ocean.

With the Simeon invasion curbed once and for all, Godzilla stoically left the island nation.

1976

Deciding to use the scattered alien tech left over on Earth over the past two decades by the Mysterians, Xians, Nebulans, Garogain, and Simeons, the leaders of the U.N. decided to construct more experimental manned sub-light spacecraft capable of exploring the outer reaches of the solar system to collect firsthand information on the planets and other celestial bodies out there, just as they previously did 11 years earlier. The government of Japan agreed to take the contracts to actually construct these proposed spacecraft over the course of a year, and succeeded in constructing rough prototypes known as the JX-1 Hawk and the JX-2 Eagle. The first of these prototypes would be ready for a hasty but relatively easy manned mission to explore the rings of Saturn firsthand by the end of the year.

In order to service the spacecrafts, two huge U.N. space stations, the SSS-1 and the Terra, were also built and launched at record speed thanks to the vast amount of technical and financial assistance provided by every developed nation on Earth.

1977

Early in this year, just after the launch of the FX-1 Hawk to investigate the planet Saturn up close, it was discovered that a small, runaway "planet," which some scientists believed to be the solid mega-dense core of a collapsed star that had somehow run amok, and was subsequently named "Gorath" by the international scientific community, had entered Earth's solar system. Upon encountering the Gorath planetoid and attempting to investigate its rapid movement in the solar system, the entire crew of the spacecraft lost their lives as the enormous gravity well of the approaching celestial body destroyed the ship. However, they managed to transmit data on their discovery back to Earth, where it was collated by astronomers and astrophysicists throughout the international community. It was then realized that the enormous celestial body was heading on a direct course for the Earth, and if a planetary body that huge struck terra firma it would cause an extinction level catastrophe greater than that caused by the Apollo asteroid collision that is believed to have ended the reign of the dinosaurs many millions of years ago.

In order to save the planet from its impending doom, the United Nations resolved to pool their resources towards this all-important goal by pooling together the large amounts of technical advancements they made in the past two decades thanks again to studying the remnants of the advanced "alien" tech left behind through the years. A bold and incredible plan was quickly initiated by the U.N. Security Council called Operation: North Pole, which would use a U.N. base located there to house a large international team of engineers and scientists who would construct several hundred huge and powerful thruster engines at key points of the area. When activated simultaneously, these mega-thrusters would serve to literally move the Earth out of its orbit until it was safely out of range of both the approaching planetoid Gorath and its devastating gravity well, and then move the Earth back into its proper orbit once the danger had completely passed. This would take a huge degree of absolutely precise mathematical calculation to determine how much energy and power would be needed towards his herculean goal, or else the movement of the Earth itself would tear the planet asunder with no help from Gorath.

In addition, a powerful mobile heat-generating device known as an atomic burrower was quickly cobbled together to assist in the project of creating the caverns in the icy terrain of the Arctic that would be needed to house the booster rockets.

As Operation: North Pole was being coordinated, the remaining prototype sub-light spacecraft NX-2 Eagle was quickly modified and launched into space to obtain further data on Gorath. It succeeded, though the crew barely escaped the fate of its sister spacecraft. The data they acquired, including the disturbing fact that Gorath was continuously adding to its mass by absorbing more space debris in the path of its gravity well, was sent to the U.N. personnel on the space stations SSS-1 and Terra both of which were moved from orbit to avoid having the multi-billion dollar constructs being struck by Gorath when it approached the Earth.

An unexpected threat was literally unearthed when the completed rocket boosters were tested. The backlash of incredible heat this created caused a gigantic, 30 meter long mutant walrus to emerge from its home deep below the frozen tundra this creature was later named 'Magma' in Japanese press info about this incident; Magma was evidently yet another of the world's hidden remnants of bio-weapons created by Muan genetic engineering over 10,000 years ago, but this was a rare example of a genetically altered mammalian life form that was designed to be adapted to existence in an extremely cold natural environment. Angered by the dramatic intrusion into his home, Magma began attacking the U.N. Arctic base.

Acting to save the installation, a large VTOL craft that was used as a means of fast cargo transport, but also equipped with a powerful laser cannon, was sent to stop the kaiju's assault. The pilot was determined to halt the creature without killing him, and initially used the laser cannon to cause an avalanche that buried the beast. Magma easily escaped, however, and continued his attack. This left the pilot no choice but to turn the craft's deadly laser beam on the creature himself, and the enormous animal was quickly killed the battle between the U.N. VTOL craft and Magma wasn't reported in most U.S. press reports, who thought the incident lacked full validation and was thus simply a rumor.

When Gorath began heading towards the near-vicinity of Earth, the rocket boosters were put to the extreme test. The full global cooperation of every nation on Earth succeeded marvelously, despite the seeming outrageous idea of the plan, and Earth was moved out of Gorath's path, and then successfully actuated back into its normal orbit, thus saving the planet from destruction.

1978-1987

During this nine year span of time, the U.N. Security Council responded to heavy international activity by various Kaiju Rights Groups, who insisted that despite the often destructive nature of such creatures, the intervention of several of them on behalf of humanity during the past two decades earned them the right to share the planet harmoniously with the human race. Reacting to this growing political pressure by these kaiju-friendly focus groups while simultaneously looking after its own interests, the U.N. Security Council made the decision to reinitialize and expand its Operation: Relocation program in concert with the new technology being invented as a result of studying the scattered alien tech left on Earth due to several failed intrasolar Muan colony invasion attempts, by developing a viable means of confining all known dai kaiju to Monster Island.

This would also necessitate the establishment of a sustainable ecosystem there, as well as placing various underground scientific installations and equipment underneath the island's bedrock to provide not only further security, but granting the global scientific community the opportunity to study the monsters and their habits in a natural environment up close. Despite the fact that they were already situated on Monster Island, the kaiju who were able to fly or swim could and sometimes did leave the atoll, despite how fortuitous this often proved for the human race. The world governments still preferred to not simply situate the monsters on a single atoll, but to actually contain them there.

To this end, attempts were made to locate any other monsters that may still be roaming freely on the globe, and transport them to the island. It's believed that during this 20 year interim, Megalon and Titanosaurus both resurfaced, and were reportedly destroyed. Sightings of Titanosaurus persisted however by sailors, none were ever proven. If Sanda and Gaila ever resurfaced, they were never found again instead of searching for them the United Nations decided to deal with them if they ever became a threat again. Baragon and Varan likewise both fully recovered from their previous severe injuries and resurfaced by the 1980's, and they were successfully "rounded up" and added to the roster of Monster Island with no major incident.

Also, during this time, the sole remaining Kamakiras on the atoll was seriously injured by Minya after the giant quasi-insect assaulted him when his surrogate father wasn't around; as the diminutive dinosaur mutation was backed up against a huge rocky hillside and was about to be skewered by the Kamakiras's frontal appendage, the struggle resulted in an enormous rock above the two of them to become dislodged, and to fall and land on Minya's tail. This caused the small kaiju to release his atomic breath full force, and this resulted in the expeditious immolation of his opponent. Kamakiras never bothered him again.

At the culmination of the aforementioned enterprise during that 11-year period, powerful hidden electrical field generating pylons were designed by the American and Japanese governments working in concert, and these were placed around the entire perimeter of the island to keep the swimming kaiju, like Godzilla and Anguirus, from leaving the atoll. In addition, powerful force field generating devices hidden within the island's mountain range created a vast dome-shaped invisible and impenetrable barrier up to about a hundred miles in diameter above the island, and this kept flying kaiju like Rodan, Varan, and Mothra in her adult stage from leaving the atoll. An extremely sophisticated underwater corral composed of "solid" sonic energy was set up to encompass about 20 miles of the sea around every side of the island to keep fully aquatic kaiju like Ebirah within the island's close vicinity. In addition, numerous advanced motion sensors and manned underground monitoring stations abounded on the atoll, along with numerous hidden ports along the beaches containing poison gas in case of an emergency.

A few kaiju escapes from the island occurred periodically, including once when a violent typhoon damaged some of the Monster Island tech that kept the monsters imprisoned, but the kaiju were soon passively returned to the island.

During this decade, the U.N. Space Bureau is established, with its main sectors in Japan, America, and Great Britain, and construction is begun on the interplanetary warship called the Gotengo, based on designs of the Atragon warship to protect Earth from any future extraterrestrial incursions.

1988-1990

Earth becomes the target of yet another displaced, ruined intrasolar Muan colony, this one having taken refuge on Venus from which to launch its attack on Earth. This relatively small, mobile advance force is defeated and destroyed by the powerful interstellar war machine known as the Gotengo. The forces of Earth win the battle against the Natal Empire. The casualties are few for the earth and the battle is directly responsible the decision to place a permanent base on the moon to act as an early warning system against any future threats. Also this battle enabled the creation of one of earth's most impressive ships to be created: Moonlight SY-3.

1991-1998

By the year 1991 the U.N. had established a permanent base on the moon, and another sub-light spacecraft, this one known as the Moonlight SY-3, was constructed. This craft was headquartered within the science base's massive underground heli-port chamber beneath Monster Island, and from this location the ship would make routine visits to the U.N. moonbase.

As noted above, by this decade, dai kaiju threats on the Earth were reduced to no more than a few brief escapes from Monster Island, and human civilization particularly the people living within Japan were then spared the numerous destructive dai kaiju incursions into human cities and towns that occurred on this Earth regularly from the 1950's to the 1970's. Most of Earth's remaining kaiju were now officially confined to Monster Island. This was a greatly enjoyed period of peace for the entire planet. The idea of alien threats from space had largely united the nations canceled out the differences they might have had towards one another for the time being.
